Suicide Squad had two great characters, Harley Quinn, and the new Joker, that saved it from being a total joke.
Spoilers alert for anyone who wants to waste their time on this awful film.
The plot holes in this movie are big enough to drive super carriers through, and makes BvS seem well thought-out.
The entire concept should have been a total no go because of how stupid it was.
This was a bunch of minor league power level mortals (with one random emo demi-godling who refused to fight for most of the film as otherwise it would have been a stupidly short and uneventual film) taking on two Demi-gods, who would only fight them one at a time, just to give them a chance it seems.
This was like a random Hydra kill team managing to take out Thor and Hulk while killing a stupid number of Shield agents along the way.
The idea is so stupid it completely destroys any immersion into the story.
The tenticle monster, who seems able to take tank shells and missiles strikes like it was just rain at the start of the film, and who could take out fighters and bombers with those tentacles, could not nail a single member of the suicide squad with any of his tentacle attacks?! Instead he decides to just kick and punch them, while doing no apparent damage. And then get taken out by a random navy seal suicide bomber?
There were way too many pointless characters, that you end up couldn't giving a crap about any of them even if they paid you to. Harley Quinn and the Joker got a disproportionate amount of screen time, and were by far the best characters.
Will Smith's character was also heavily featured, but he was just so forgettable he might as well have been a random Seal member.
It almost feels like they had a massive change of heart halfway through writing, when they got too attached to all those disposable characters they included just so they could kill them off, and decided to keep them all alive so they could do more pointless spin off movies/TV shows for all of them.
The concept would have worked better if they killed off the pointless red-shirts characters during the course of the film to better focus on the core 3.
You only needed to know those characters well enough to feel something when they bite it, but not enough to distract from the plot or core 3 (but certainly way more effort than was put in to DC's bargain basement Spider-Man knock-off who got his head blown off without even a backstory, so who cares that he died? Or didn't see it a mile off that he would be killed off?)
The squad also should have been pitched against opponents who was more on their power level that it didn't make you roll your eyes to see them win.
I would love to see a Quinn and Joker spin off. Beyond that, the rest of them could have all been eaten by the tenicle monsters for all I care.
