I think anything made by Paul W.S. Anderson (not to be confused with Paul T. Anderson) is considered to be substandard cinema by both critics and audience.

True, but I like that movie "Event Horizon" (1997) was actually pretty good.

I think in when it comes to video game movies, there are three standard levels. In order of descending quality, they are:
- junk food action flick: Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat 1, Tomb Raider
- just bad: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat 2 & 3, Doom
- Uwe Boll: 'nuff said

Isn't someone making a big budget 'serious' HALO movie?
I saw the 'lite' one on NF not long ago and I thought it was decent.

Peter Jackson did before he pulled a George Lucas on us and made the Hobbit Trilogy.

Last I heard who ever owns Halo (Microsoft?) pulled out of the deal with whatever studio was going to produce it and planned to produced the movie entirely on its own. Given that a popular video game cost more than producing a movie but can make billions a movie cannot, making a movie is probably low priority for them.

Speaking of the Hobbit trilogy, has anyone seen this?
As soon as I track down where to actually get a copy of this, I'll be watching it.

Saw X-Men Apocalypse yesterday, to my surprise, it was way better than Civil war. I didn't have the felling, that the movie last two and a half hours.
