Demonstrating destructive capabilities against underground bunkers is ineffective. As a mountainous country, the United States has too many places to hide. There are too many mountains that cannot be destroyed by the most powerful penetrators and ground blasts of nuclear weapons.
Showing some movie posters is more of a deterrent than that.

There is no use for China to keep entertaining the US when all you they meet are a bunch of blood-thirsty racist supremacist imperialists, who will stop at nothing, including nuclear holocaust, to safeguard their hegemony and supremacy over the entire globe.
TL; DR - China needs to be prepared for the probable eventuality of a nuclear WW3, ASAP.

I'm secretly hoping that some of the highest priority research and military invention in China is missile defense, maybe something like potentially using even missiles like DF-17 and the likes against nukes through say AI, machine learning etc.
And ofc more in the works that I don't know of.
Bare minimum is that China needs enough nukes to hit population, industrial, and agricultural sectors. Mainly because chances are if the US and China wipes themselves out then it’s not likely the surviving Neocons are not going to be happy with Russia existing either. Then neither will Russia probably be happy with Western Europe standing too.
Buried deep within this Wapo Article. The Ukrainians Azov Nazis during an interview said they could go into Russia and seize Russian towns to use as leverage against Russia. Brilliant idea. Go try it and see how well that works out when you are inevitability forced back to the negotiation tables.
