Funny, seeing how Taiwan will have neither in five years.
You underestimate China's patience. China will wait extremely long time before doing any full scale invasion. I expect Taiwan to last until 2045. Unless ofcourse Taiwanese themselves become foolish enough to do something to trigger the fight early like racing for nukes or putting US troops.

China had no patience for India. A few months and India was put in their place. Neither did China have patience at Zhenbao Island with the Soviet superpower. What did Taiwan do to deserve patience? What power does it have to demand it?

The media is saying this claim needs to be peer-reviewed but unlike the Department of Energy assessment that with "low confidence" they think it was a lab leak is essentially confirmation. The West keeps saying that China is not being transparent and they need to let Western investigators in if China wants everyone to believe it wasn't a lab leak. What's to prevent them from lying? Look at FOX News being sued by Dominion voting machines for spreading election fraud lies. They even didn't believe Trump's accusations yet help spread his lies.

The logic of China is simple: Why fight now when you are growing 9-10% per year in nominal terms. Why fight with current military when you can fight 20 years later with a military several times stronger?

China's interest is to wait this out until China is stronger.

There is a deeper thinking as well. there is still an expectation that the Taiwanese hatred mainland China is related to the fact that mainland is poorer than Taiwan and thus Taiwanese look down on the mainland. If China becomes richer than Taiwan, plenty of Taiwanese will shed their superiority complex and start to see China and being Chinese as a positive thing. They might also see CCP leadership as a positive thing. They might shed their western worship which is fueling their anti-China animosity.

Overall, waiting is in China's best interest while they are growing stronger. This could change if Taiwan tries to get nukes or tries to put US troops in Taiwan.

It seems now that China is playing up its role as a global leader, which means it would want to avoid war and seek peaceful negotiation in the civil war as well.

All China needs to do is to keep deterring an American invasion.

While making sure Taiwan is militarily defended is one part, another part is geopolitical plays.

Its not just neutrality and solving conflicts that is used to promote China's status, but the smearing of the alternatives. To that end, China is making geopolitical plays that force America into taking sides, spending big on bad situations, enacting draconian laws domestically but sometimes also forcing their most reliant dependencies.

Ukraine was the line of 2022, but something more is going to happen. Syria and Iraq have been primed for expelling US occupations. Iran has a free hand to mess with Israel.

Somehow, the idea was succesfully planted in some sectors of US that they should start a war with Mexico.

If US doesn't respond to Chinese geopolitical provocation, they will lose face big time, in the middle east, in the fentanyl trade, in Ukraine and so on. And China has a deep understading of American culture, that there's nothing they hate more than that.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and several city officials signed an agreement to become sister cities with the "United States of Kailasa." Two women garbed in what appears to be traditional clothing and jewelry gave an eight-minute speech speaking of creating an "enlightened Hindu civilization."

Nithyananda, a self-styled holy man who titles himself the "Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism," claims to have created Kailasa as a "revival" of a Hindu nation. The guru also claims to be able to disprove Einstein's theory of relativity and possess paranormal abilities. Nithyananda

A spokesperson for Lithuania's mission confirmed that one of its employees had met with the Kailasa representatives to "listen to their concerns."

The U.N. really has fallen, to not catch this. I guess Lithuania must very much sympathize with "Kailasa", seeing as Lithuania is also a joke of a country.

It is the win-win deal that China offers.

This Saudi Arabia and Iran peace deal brokered by China, this deal will change the world exactly like how President Nixon handshake with Chairman Mao in Beijing changed the world. Altogether there are differences on how we got there, but the result, which is massive, will probably will be the same.

Nixon and Mao shaking hands changed the world. That act in itself changed the world.

This Saudi Arabia and Iran peace deal brokered by China, this win-win deal is kind of like the final piece of a jigsaw puzzled placed in, that will box out the West.

RCEP, Central Asia, Africa, South America, and finally a big piece of the puzzle goes in and that is West Asia. The PRC and the win-win gone everywhere. There really are not any more places on the map.

The West has to compete with that. So far, too busy with that war, among other things.

Next step for China would be two fold, and one is further develop these win-win deals will all the regions they are currently in place, which is basically everywhere except the continental USA, and parts of Western Europe. We could safely ignore India, like how everyone else ignores it.

After that, turn those Europeans will more deals, and not blown up pipelines.

:D

That is why this talk of the Europeans always on the US side, and a new cold war is coming, such talk is shortsighted and not smart.

It does not hold up to fact.

Fact. Which side was China on in the real and original Cold War.

EU eyes port calls, joint exercises with Philippines in South China Sea

MANILA, Philippines — The European Union is looking to conduct port calls and joint naval exercises with the Philippines in the South China Sea as part of its efforts to increase its maritime presence in the disputed waters to assert freedom of navigation, an official from the regional bloc said.
"We would look for opportunities for port calls and joint naval exercises as well," EU special envoy to the Indo-Pacific region Richard Tibbels told Philstar.com when asked about which areas of capacity-building the 27-member grouping will focus on in the Philippines.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said the government is crafting guidelines on maritime activities, including joint patrols, in the West Philippine Sea or the part of the South China Sea that the country claims.

Fake news.

Hope they come.

This propaganda is getting really bad.

The EU is embroiled with a rather serious dispute with mother Russia.

Now the EU is determine to stick its nose into a dispute to cause a direct confrontation with China?

Furthermore, countries of Europe may have a navy, the EU does not have a navy. The EU only have babbling politicians who are gutless and brainless.

Fake news propaganda dezinformatsia.

Another one of those ICC kind of proclamations.

The parts relevant for Taiwan aren't poorer though, and GDP per capita isn't average worker pay.

, for instance, at 780k NTD (25k USD), yet TSMC engineers are among the highest paid in Taiwan.

The estimated base pay is NT$780,000 per year. The estimated additional pay is NT$480,000 per year. Additional pay could include bonus, stock, commission, profit sharing or tips. The "Most Likely Range" represents values that exist within the 25th and 75th percentile of all pay data available for this role.

and more would be if they could? Taiwanese aren't comparing themselves to farmers in Guizhou and patting themselves on the back and smugly saying "we're wealthier than their farmers". They're comparing themselves to Shenzhen and Shanghai, and seething about it. To put it bluntly, Taiwanese don't have the capability to look down on mainland China, and they know it.

If relative wealth was all that mattered, how come Hong Kong was more pro China in 1998 and 2008 than in 2019? In fact the richer China got, the more extreme and anti-mainland Hong Kongers became. The most pro China guys are the old guys like Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan, and they remember a much poorer China. Why would this be the case, if your theory is correct?

Why fight now? I didn't say that its a great idea to fight right now, this very second. But why fight soon? Because some things can wait and some things can't. Nobody has the obligation to wait for you. if you're growing at 9-10% a year why do you think they won't react? You think everyone is dumb or blind, only you're smart? Only you have agency, everyone else just sits there waiting for you? They can't escalate? They can't react or change?
