Another point of irony is that whilst the anglos love to hide behind their allies and vassals as human shields (looking at you, Marcos), the relationship with Israel and the Israeli lobby is such that Anglo Americans wouldn’t think twice about sending five eyes soldiers to die for Israel.

also, two years after the taliban victory in Afghanistan, takiban coping with modernity has shades of The Office. 10/10 would binge watch it.

i wonder if the CPC and Mao experienced something similar after 1949, especially after decades of non stop war.

But you know I think overall that's a good thing. Overtime it will wear off some of that fundamentalist rough edges.

China’s state-owned defense company Poly Technologies on Aug. 31, 2022, shipped navigation equipment to Russia’s state-owned military export firm JSC Rosoboronexport for M-17 military transport helicopters. Earlier that month, Chinese electronics firm Fujian Nanan Baofeng Electronic Co. supplied to Rosoboronexport—through an Uzbek state-owned defense firm—a telescoping antenna for the RB-531BE military vehicle, which is used for communications jamming. On Oct. 24, Chinese state-owned aircraft firm AVIC International Holding Corp. shipped to AO Kret, a subsidiary of sanctioned government-owned defense giant Rostec, $1.2 million worth of parts for Su-35 jet fighters.

Su-35 parts for Russia? What would that be?

Israel isn’t going it alone, they want to drag the collective west into the fight alongside them against Iran.

It would be very amusing if in its build up to start a hot war against China over Taiwan, America inadvertently pushed Israel into starting a war with Iran first, thereby dragging America into the war against Iran to ensure American military forces and assets in the region could not be stripped and shipped off to the Pacific, thereby weakening Israel’s American security guarantee.
Netanjahu just wants to use Iran as a distraction so the demonstrators at home don't stop him from "reforming" the judicial system.

China should really invest in strengthening its allies. Technologically advanced allies like Europe and Japan are the Americans' biggest strength. Russia, Iran and North Korea all have a fairly robust industrial and technological bases, strong enough to survive decades of sanctions, but they need more capital. Meanwhile Pakistan is bankrupt. China needs to build up the strength of countries that are dedicated to the fight against western hegemony

The hilarity that would ensure if it was just some PhD weather tracking project that failed to respond and left adrift, but the Chinese government have like no incentive to tell the Americans about it and even if they did, would the Americans accept it?

Now they have ELINT circling it with fighters on standby on order from the president to bring it down, this has easily costed them millions already. Domestically it has become a political bomb as they have left it so long that whether a shootdown is successful or not people will be pissed off that it took so long to take action. It would actually be funnier if the Chinese side slip a mention in there that it is a military balloon so that the two sides will rip each other apart in the ensuring blame game.

Basically what happens when your society has been infiltrated. It starts with education system as we have seen in hong kong and also likely unintended consequence with countries (including China's) obsession with mandatory english lessons

“Schools in the Philippines focused on American history and Western culture instead of Filipino culture and history,” says Chu. “A generation of Filipinos were educated to think that U.S. colonization was good for the country.”

“Even today with the military bases being established, many Filipinos would support that because they think of China as the enemy, and the U.S. having the Philippines’ best interest.”
