China should really invest in strengthening its allies. Technologically advanced allies like Europe and Japan are the Americans' biggest strength. Domestically it has become a political bomb as they have left it so long that whether a shootdown is successful or not people will be pissed off that it took so long to take action. It would actually be funnier if the Chinese side slip a mention in there that it is a military balloon so that the two sides will rip each other apart in the ensuring blame game.

Basically what happens when your society has been infiltrated. It starts with education system as we have seen in hong kong and also likely unintended consequence with countries (including China's) obsession with mandatory english lessons
