I think you are severely underestimating China's living standards and overestimating Uk's living standards. Most Chinese living in T1 cities already have a higher living standard than anywhere in UK.
Agreed. The vast majority of English (those outside London) have nowhere near the living standards seen on BBC shows. One step into Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, etc and you’d rather go back to Suzhou or Hangzhou (which only has half the gdp per capita without adjusting for PPP)
