Iranians had a net positive opinion toward USA and a net negative opinion toward China? Very strange after they got economy embargo from EU and USA.
Here is the data collection method
Latana’s surveys are conducted online through internet-connected devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. Latana follows an open recruitment approach that leverages the reach of over 40,000 third-party apps and mobile websites. To ensure coverage across different demographic groups and geographical regions, Latana targets a highly diverse set of apps and websites – from news to shopping, to sports and games. As a result, Latana generates up to 21 million answers every month from respondents living in as many as 100 different countries.

So it is done by internet access through apps. The question is "do Iranians inside Iran have access to the survey?" Who are these respondents? Where do they live?

I highly doubt if Iranian government will allow an EU based institute to conduct such survey freely inside Iran. Nor do I believe in their data gathering in China is unhindered. So the result may be very biased in certain countries. I suspect that the Iranian respondents are primarily living outside of Iran, so are the Chinese. That leads to data bias.

The difference between Iranian and Chinese is that Iranians who are able to freely travel outside are generally negative to their own government. Iran's allies would then be partially blamed for supporting Iran by these Iranians. This kind of sentiment was very common among Chinese travelling to the west in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Those Chinese if surveyed would have given similar response.

Chinese in this survey today, however, are very different stock from today's Iranian and older Chinese. These Chinese can freely travel between China and the west. They enjoy the achievement of today's China. They don't blame China for backwardness. They don't look for better life from US. They do blame the US for hostility.

The bottom line is that, at the extreme pressure, people worship their bullies and blame themselves or other victims.

A very good example just in front of us is EU and Europeans. Even though it is plain in sight that US cut off Europe's basic need (Nordstream before the war and Oil sanction after the war), most of Europeans are supporting the US.

This thread has some input from Iranian diaspora. Basically racism towards Chinese plus Western propaganda. It's not even that strange seeing how Iranians describe China/Chinese people online; the racism is very obvious. The strangest part of that survey is India only having a net -4% perception towards China. I would think it would be Japan levels by now.

West worship is a hell of a drug.

This explains why Chinese and Russians have never really trusted the Iranian regime.
It is the respondents that thinks China and Russian negatively and thinking of US very positively, not the Iranian government. Why would China and Russia not trust Iranian government?

The right conclusion should be never trust those portion of Iranian people.

For anyone who is confused by the survey's reflection of Iranian, consider the possible outcomes of the survey in China in following years.
  1. 1989, a statue of "liberty" was erected in Tiananmen square.
  2. 1999, after the bombing of Chinese embassy in Belgrade.
  3. 2008, after the Urumqi riot and Olympic torch rally in the west.
Or Russia 1991 and today.

Nothing surprising even if that survey is accurately representative.
