Your arguments and your presentation of the arguments to make your point about the Israel - China partnership/dynamic seem more lucid and cogent in contrast to your sometimes doom and gloom hand wringing that you exercised with respect to the Taiwan issue.

But on a side note, you must try to understand that some of the negative opinions some of our fellow members of this forum are highly charged due to the visible destruction of properties and most importantly lives in front of our t.v. and social media sites. When we're upset and annoyed about anything it can sometimes affect our ability to see, judge things as they are by adding our own morality, ethics into the situation opinions formed by our own set of experiences aided by our own individual biases.
The C.E.O. of ByteDance is a major eunuch/admirer of the U.S. way of doing things hint: the billionaires run the country/state in stark contrast to the billionaire class of China. It isn't about "freedom" and "Democracy" per se but rather the illusory notion of those two distinct western precepts they call values when in reality the rich hoards all the wealth and power concentrated in the hands of the few while the flock is at their mercy.
I hope for China’s sake, they would reign in f..kers like that guy because these are the type of people who would sell out their own mothers or family if they can see or gain profit from doing so. Confusius was right to deride and place the rank of merchants at the bottom ladder.

Whether ByteDance decided not to use Alibaba Cloud services outside of China probably is not really the question. The question of this business decision, were they coerced into doing it?
Didn't one of Oracle owners/founder had a stake in TikTok?
If ByteDance used Alibaba Cloud services everywhere, it could ask for a discount. By not using Alibaba Cloud services for all of ByteDance storage, probably increases cost for themselves.

This is an interesting story on many levels.
I only vaguely knew Alibaba Cloud services was already an established worldwide company. That Japanese article saying it is a set back, obviously a case of butt hurt. How many Japanese cloud services companies operating worldwide have we heard about? None! And here is a worldwide Chinese could services company suffering a set back.

Alibaba Cloud services has been online in the United States since 2015!
As for ByteDance, they are going as strong as ever.

It makes business sense for TikTok to remain in the American market.
It is not just about the market itself, because TikTok is so big, they can lose the American market and not feel anything.
What is important is to be in the American market, so that TikTok can see any threats to their business and crush would be competitors on the spot.
TikTok really is number #1 in terms of this kind of app, where you bust a move. The only threat, it is not being kicked out of the American market, but what if a well funded American competitor emerges? If TikTok has American partners, which it always did, then they would try to protect TikTok's worldwide interest. But that protection has a cost, which here probably means they wanted ByteDance to shovel some money their way.
Long term, eliminating all would be competitors, to make everyone worldwide bust a move on TikTok, this probably was the right move.
