1/3 rd of U.S. is nothing to sneeze at. Especially when all if the world including the Europeans is still on rations and requiring Marshall aid.
I know. But i think it's also important to factor in how US escaped the destruction of WW2 when others didn't. That reason perhaps is the main reason US is afraid of competition today.

The pompous pig has taken on his new role at a 'think' tank committed to

Time now to sanction all donors to the Hudson institute.
The Hudson Institute is a notorious far-right US foreign policy organ. This "think tank" is not any better than the Heritage Foundation, American Enterprise Institute, Foundation for Defense of Democracies, and the plethora of other far-right lunatic asylums in DC. Far-right evangelist neocon Pompeo fits right in with these nutjobs.

That’s actually a massive win for China.

Hudson Institute had a 2019 revenue of $57m and expenses of $18m with 60 staff. That gives you an indication of the kind of pay Fat Pomp can expect to get, which is a tiny fraction of what he would almost certainly have been expecting with a corner office job in a major private company. That’s a big hit to his personal finances, which is what other American politicians will take most notice in.

He would have took that job so he can keep pumping out anti-China hit pieces to keep his name in the media to keep his 2024 presidential aspersions alive, but that would be like intensive care life support. Barring some major unforeseen event, he is basically done politically. He is toxic to donors, which is the main killer, as without a huge campaigning war chest, any election bid is dead on arrival

Now Robinhood and Cashapp have also banned Gamestop trading, as well as TD and other brokerages and banks

Not to mention r/WSB has been deplatformed and their twitter and website shutdown and censored

Just like free speech , free market, in America freedom is only free until its not...

Reminds me of the "Truly Unlimited" plans that slow you down to 2G after 30G of usage...

When Trump and his followers got banned from Twitter I knew it was a slippery slope situation. Now it is a case of when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Even though gamestop situation is outrageous, they didnt actually break any laws and the reddit users didnt even break any reddit terms of service

Its clear the game is rigged to favor the institutionalized rich and the small man always loses... when every now and then a small gambler wins big against the house, they shuttdown the casino....

Look at the 2008 and 2020 bailouts... the big players get all the upside reward whilst the little people shoulder all the risks, its systematically rigged so only one side benefits

My problem with the whole situation is the US/West like to use the illusion of freedom to one up China in the PR info war, when in reality its just illusion and deceiption... in essense cheating by having cake and eating too...

Its leaving a Cyberpunk 2077 taste in my mouth... where the dev CDPR pitched the game as the best thing since sliced bread, lied and misrepresented to the wazoo, by the time they were caught red handed they already sold 13 million copies and now have no motivation to fix/complete the game and left the suckered gamers out to dry.

America gets to capitalize on PR wins like freedom of speech and markets (while affirmative bashing China for percieved lack thereof at every oppurtunity) when it was always just hegemon capture and rides the coattails of its past successes (WWII) to write checks it cannot cash and basically living off the house of cards by conning everyone

Eventually the Game will Stop

Juicy candidates for expanded sanction list.
Not really, expanding the sanctions list too much is actually counterproductive.

The primary rational for imposing sanctions is to achieve deterrence for certain activities by imposing a cost for doing so. Deterrence only works when bystanders see that said sanctions have teeth.

Most of the hacks working at Hudson are most likely just the typical no-talent intellectual prostitutes that populate the overwhelming majority of western think tanks; their only value is in providing an ‘independent’ rubber stamp for people to promote their own interests and sell that as for the greater good. Such people are generally far too unimportant for Chinese sanctions to actually affect them directly.

The worst thing China can do is add people willy nilly to its sanctions list, and have some of them use that almost as a badge of pride and free advertising by coming out and saying, ‘hey look, big bad China is sanctioning poor little old me over nothing, but it’s having zero impact on me haha!’

What China could and should do is sanction Hudson itself, especially its investment activities to both make sure it doesn’t make any money off of China directly, and also prove that it’s sanctions aren’t a joke. It may also be worthwhile to take a close look at the donors list of Hudson.

But personally, I don’t think there will be any big fish to catch even there, as Hudson would not have offered Fat Pomp the job if any of their major donors were at risk of Chinese sanctions. Besides, I doubt China will look to be so petty as it has already achieved its primary objective. I think they will only sanction Hudson donors if any companies with links to major political financiers donate to it, since that will likely be those whales testing the waters, so China needs to make it clear to them that Fat Pomp is now radioactive, and fallout will land on them if they so much as touch him with a barge pole.

Sanction the fat lard and his associates for the rest of their lives. Hell do his kids too and the whole trump family. Let any China hawk in the fed govt know they will not be doing business with China.

They might be fine now, but does anyone want to be locked out of the Chinese market in 2030 and 2040?
