I was considering France as a holiday location but I guess when I compared my last trip there in 2012 there about a, things seems to have gotten monumentally worse so I guess that is a true no go in the near future. From terror attacks to pandemics and a literally dying economy, they really have it all. Still I guess the only thing I will miss is the food but does anyone get the impression that Europe is significantly more depressing lately. I mean in the uk when I was there in 2012, I swear that many people are on anti depressants or something

China actually played a role in the underreporting of extremist attacks. There were many such attacks in South Xinjiang in the early to middle 2010s. Many of them targeted Uyghurs. People were killed for drinking beer or playing card games (suspected of gambling?). Liberal clergymen were assassinated. Most of these attacks went unreported at that time. Contrary to the Western narrative of China trying to demonize Muslims, China only reported these attacks after the West began their propaganda wars over Xinjiang. And even then China only released information in an English language CCTV documentary to avoid the association between Uyghurs and terrorism in minds of the Chinese public.
If there is one good thing to take from this, all the actions the USA has take is such that one false slip and you can bet that the Muslim nations along with most of the victims of the west will not waste time to turn the tables on the USA. Hence it’s only a matter of time but you can expect with the current destruction happening to the US economy that they will be in a bad situation for a long time

It is pretty obvious that the ruling party is trying to downplay the racial and religious angle as much as possible. The people is alot angrier than the party ever is when photos of the Kunming attack start making the wave.
Yeah, the only way for China to fight back now is through strength since the USA obviously can only understand that since everything thing they do now is based of there delusions that they are righteous and they will be followed no matter what they do. There are no (or at most only a tiny tiny few) moral absolutes where something is always fundamentally good or evil, there are just an infinite spectrum of grey, with humans deciding where they draw their lines.
The problem is that people in the west have been so brainwashing by cheap and easy fairytales about the fundamental and absolute superiority of their western values, morals and even farts, that they genuinely cannot see things from anyone who else’s point of view, as it is just dismissed and rejected out of hand as inferior and beneath contempt if it clashes directly with core western values or norms.
This was very much by design, to make it very easy for western media and leaders to ‘other’ any dissenting voices to ensure the status quo that so benefits the haves are retained in place, even as the have nots are getting a more and more raw deal, as is manifestly self evident from both the shocking and growth levels of poverty in almost all western nations all the while the top 1% gobble up more and more of the share of the wealth of the nations. It also provides easy rallying calls to unite the people against common external enemies, real or imagined (hence the western media’s relentless focus on the wet market and bat eating, as they are ‘othering’ China to try to make the western public blame China for Covid due to ‘unclean’ Chinese practices).
The downside is that western leaders are also forced to defend core western values uncompromisingly even when it is clear that it is the west who is in the wrong.
I am sure Macron would not want to die on this particularly stupid hill, but he has no choice as politically he cannot be seen to be caving in on core western values in the face of a direct challenge by ‘others’.
China could cause western nations all sorts of problems if it wanted to by exploiting this idiotic character flaw in western self identity.
