Obviously due to large scale, western PR campaign to tarnish China’s reputation. The public is easy to manipulate.

At the same time, China is at a disadvantage because the public does not trust Chinese media.

That's 1950 theory. My next door neighbour owes me 100k & you are surveying his best friend what's his view about me.

In current world, a particular country's view doesn't matter that much. What matters is whose views are putting forward more robustly, creating confusion. That's psychological warfare in media.
They can have any view about China, what China needs to do is resurrect the boiling anger among rest of the world in front of them.
Asking the uncomfortable questions they don't want to be asked.

Mostly the very same pack of nations that gain from holding on to western dominance. And the reporting agencies esp, DW and CNN are not known for objective reporting when it comes to anything China. They will love a China that is weak, soft, and held beholden to them aka Africa.

Don't you find it strange that since somewhere around 2019 all of a sudden Western countries and media are super interested with China's "human rights abuses"?? Why is it that every person and organization that is anti-China all have strange ties and strange backgrounds?? Actually I recommend everyone in this forum to read/watch Noam Chomsky's "Manufacturing Consent". He pretty sums up how Western media is used to further the geopolitical goals of Western countries.

Hi Petrolicious88,

It also depend who commission the survey and how they frame the question.
Unfortunately, the nations surveyed make up a bulk of global economy and have some of the richest markets. So yea, their views matter.

China is horrible at soft power, and has very little cultural appeal even within Asia. This is unfortunate but also true. It is also easy for western media to counter Chinese narratives due to public mistrust of Chinese media.

Of course Western media is biased, and it’s part of their foreign policy to brain wash their citizens against China. The CIA once said: they public is easy to manipulate.

But my original point is China is at a disadvantage because of public perception of Chinese media as propaganda. It’s harder for China to win the PR war.

It depends where it was. Was it in Prague? The mayor is known to be very anti-China and pro-Taiwan. In that case, the story is pretty irrelevant. What matters is the head of state.
Well, the head of state is more or less symbolic in Czech Republic. The PM and his/her party is the real power holder, isn't it? Besides, Czech was very anti-China in the past before the current president Zeman. I remember that Czech, Poland and Estonia were the most anti-China former Soviet block countries, even surpassing western European countries. Only recently they toned down their voice. I am afraid that Mr. Zeman is an exception rather than a broad representation of Czech political community.
