The "superpower" phrase is propagated by the US, intended to stir hatred among its population.

China has never claimed itself as "superpower", nor fond of this framing.

China is an antidote to the US - the sole superpower, which is capable of waging mixed warfare anywhere on the planet.
China doesn't claim itself as a superpower because it is not powerful enough to dominate the world right now and will probably get a lot of pushback and animosity from many countries if it threw its weight around. But it still needs to grow a lot economically and does not want the unwanted hostility.

US throws its weight around because its already on top in every way possible and it doesn't fear getting any pushback, cause no one else is willing push it back.

Example, Cuba blockade. Not a single sound from anyone despite a blatant violation of international law and sovereignity and naked aggression.

Just imagine if China blockaded a tiny neighbour. Let's say, Vietnam, a country that is not even an ally of the west. There will imediate media frenzy in the west that will blow up across the world to paint China as this big bad. There will be imediate sanctions on China from the west and likely China will be kicked out of things like Olympics.

That is the power of the western empire. That is the power of being on top without anything else to achieve.

China on the otherhand does not have any leeway to use its power without significant outcry from the west and also small countries who are not used to a powerful China. They will oppose it, in various ways.

That is the power of a world that is has already accepted a western domination. They are not used to a dominant China and are not willing to accept it without many fights.

As I said before, China has a long way to go before it becomes a true superpower that can impose its will on the world or its neighbourhood. It cannot even impose its will on its backyard because of the western domination.

Overcomplicating the issue and talking too much. Simply put, outdone by China economically, technologically and militarily in Asia, the last thing that the US has that China hasn't overtaken yet is force projection outside of Asia. So that is the final weapon it can still swing around in its last tantrum before America is fully eclipsed by China.

Japanese is switching to black and white packaging for chips (the potato kind) to save oil.
Must be running pretty low now. I hear calculation in China is predicting dual use goods on the ban list to run out sometimes in June.

The company has been summoned to a hearing by Japanese government to "explain the detail and clarify there is no shortage on naphtha", as the changing of packaging is a clear violation of Japanese winology.

So not only are the western and western colonised governments doing nothing to help tackle the unavoidable supply shock, they seek to punish companies that take the initiative to put in place mitigation measures themselves. The coming collapse is going to be spectacular.

China is not even remotely close to being a superpower.

There is only one superpower, and that is the anglo-saxon empire. The US and its vassals of Europe and Asia dominate the world comprehensively.

They own finance, they own tech, they own 60% of GDP and maybe 70-80% of wealth.

That is why China is so timid and keeps its head down.

Yes, China has the potential to become a superpower and challenge the western empire. But its still far away.

When China becomes a 60 trillion dollar economy in 2050-2060, then it will be a superpower.

Interesting chart illustrating that the US economy hasn’t really grown in any material sense for decades.

It’s just accounting fraud floating in a void, with no median real wage growth or hard-power spillovers.

Unless America found the first silver bullet in history that's able to separate productivity from energy.

Or its ancient grid is somehow simply more “efficient” than China’s modern one at creating real activity.

You should consult with the real world before deciding to post anything, I mean its a basic decency.

There is no global "media frenzy" for the US in 2026. The US lost both soft and hard power already.

Soft power = seen from the charts. Hard power = as seen how they can't defeat either Iran or Houthis.

They can piratemaxx some ships or kill a few Ecuadorian fishermen, but where does it matter?

Maduro's kidnapping is a fluke, an intelligence op. They lost trade and tech wars against China.

Russia outproduced them in Ukraine and grew much faster than the EU. Iran humiliated them totally.
