Preeminent British historian, Arnold J. Toynbee, in 1940's and 1950's, repeated in his works that (paraphrasing) "out of all the civilizations, we (Europeans) cannot dominate the Islamic and Chinese", that these two accepted Western technology and occupation but did not accept the Western ideal and have the mechanisms to resist the West indefinitely, unlike the Aboriginals, Russians, and Indians.
At its core, the immune response of the Islamic and Chinese civilisations are the languages itself. When you learn a new language you also learn how the people think, you learn about their concepts, its why Nordic pagans who did away with their own runes and oral traditions became Christianised and romanised and the same is the case of the aboriginals who can only exist as a people, within the Anglo Australian suzerain. Why did that western newspaper make a big deal out of Chinese leaders speaking English? Because they believe non white westerners speaking English is a form of cultural domination.
Why do so many generations of Chinese immigrants become anglicised within a few generations? Because the U.S. and Australian governments strongly discourage Chinese culture and language, especially Chinese culture and language.
