The abject nature of soldier sailor rations isn’t merely of supply problems in MENA, but rather I suspect, of corruption. This is a USG which has $50,000 screwdrivers remember, I reckon it’s a case of the logistics companies sourcing absolute garbage and pocketing the difference.
You saw this sort of thing in the fall of the Ming Dynasty as well, as depicted in the film:

Judging from the state of those ‘rations’ the USN’s most pressing short term fleet upgrade should be fishing nets to allow them to catch their own lunch and dinner.

The first time I ever heard of Scott Galloway was because he as a university professor tried to intellectualize what groups in the US like the Proud Boys and incels were complaining about and wrote a book on it. From my perspective Scott Galloway got famous because of this book seeing him talk about it everywhere. Never seen him before this and now he's a pundit on TV and he has a podcast and show on YouTube talking about economics because he's an economics professor. He's one of those people you saw advocating a ban on TikTok because of the corruption of young minds narrative and he didn't want the Chinese being a part of that equation.

Now he's advocating a reproachment with China after being one of those establishment minded anti-China Americans. The problem with Americans/Westerners is they more operate on wishful thinking than any neutral unbiased analysis. If you see at what looks to be possibly the biggest geopolitical disaster for the US because of the war with Iran and how they got that wrong, it's because that's how they operate. How they approach China shows how that's true because they been so long wrong about China. They want to believe they're the good guys so therefore if China doesn't blindly and obediently follow the good, it's because they must be evil and are plotting something. Yeah plotting to be independent from you and that is a threat to someone that wants absolute control over everything! And then Trump exposed the vulnerabilities of doing what the US tells you. And now the West is paying for it and the die-hards are probably going to put the final nail on the coffin. Everything they claim they have to catch-up with China on... they never will because it all ways comes down to price and everything in the West costs more because what's paramount in the Western capitalist system is someone private has to make money first. It's more important than having what they're working on to make money... work at all. That's why what they do and say is more about hype and not factual reality.

Like I mentioned before, there's an anti-China establishment in the US based mostly based on racism which they won't admit so it'll be hard to believe to the least that any reproachment will happen anytime soon. Americans would rather die than admit they were wrong. And China shouldn't be under the delusion thinking that China and the West can live together in peace. Christianity and Judaism is in opposition to China simply because when they made up those religions they didn't know China existed. So how could their God who created everything not know of the Chinese? They invested thousands of years to their lies so they're not going to give up on them that easily without conquering China spinning as proof what they believe in wasn't a lie all this time.
Galloway was constantly talking about beating China in the past and now he wants rapprochement? Then the US better have a suitably large and strategic peace offering for China. Formally, fully, and forcefully coercing Taiwan into peaceful reunification with China ASAP and forcing Japan to release Ryukyu as an independent people's republic would be a good start, but only just a start.

Taiwan Poll: Mixed Views After Xi-KMT Summit

A TVBS survey conducted April 16–23 among 1,118 Taiwanese adults found that 43% believe the Xi–Cheng meeting held in Beijing on April 10 (

) benefits cross-strait peace, while 39% see no positive effect. Separately, 46% rated the summit as successful and 66% expressed support for resuming cross-strait negotiations — with opposition standing at just 19%.

The meeting between Xi Jinping and KMT chair Cheng Li-wun was the first inter-party leadership contact in a decade. Beijing followed with 10 cross-strait exchange measures, including resuming tourist flows from Shanghai and Fujian to Taiwan and advancing utility linkages between Fujian and the offshore islands of Kinmen and Matsu. Support for engaging on the basis of the 1992 Consensus rose from 42% to 46% compared to the 2015 Xi–Chu summit, though opposition also climbed from 22% to 32%.

Partisan splits remain sharp: DPP supporters were nearly evenly divided on resuming talks (45% for, 44% against), while KMT and TPP supporters backed dialogue at over 90%.
