Well the issue is that entire sub groups of Hans are unfortunantly like this because they're cosmopolitan as even during the Japanese invasion, eastern China (Primarly the coastal regions but also somewhat more inland) collaborated with Japan while western China (especially Shanxi, Shaanxi and Sichaun) were the ones who resisted.

the Shanghainese (One of the regions I am talking about) are famous for being traitors (Said by my Shanghainese Dad) because they collaberated with foreginers to suck the wealth out of the country. For some reason Shanghainese lament the loss of old Shanghai (1920s where it was essentially an aparthied reigme for foreigners) with the works like Eileen Chang who was a fucking traitor because she married a high ranking offical in Wang Jing Wei's government and wrote a story praising Japan. I am actually suprised her books weren't banned in China and she was not recognized as a traitor.

I also find it hilarious of how Shanghainese about new comers when all these "Shanghainese" ironically came form elsewhere. My Shanghainese side are Chongming Island natives which makes me an actual native of Shanghai.

But yeah because of this me and my dad are ashamed to be Shanghainese and I would literally go far as to say Mao Zedong should have purged Shanghainese identity.

I use the reddit post to prove my point.

It's because of people like this that Xi Jinping instituted patriotic education.

Important to realize that prior to Xi, Jiang Zemin spent almost two decades as the most powerful Chinese leader either directly or behind the scenes, and Jiang not only tolerated but encouraged Shanghai distinctiveness as a cosmopolitan and global city. So of course, Shanghainese identity would become stronger under Jiang and his powerful Shanghai clique.

Ever since Xi took over, the Shanghai clique has been frozen out of power. Some Shanghainese have responded by becoming even more radical in their "localism," but the tide of history is turning against them as more & more people in Shanghai no longer speak Shanghainese, as the youth receive patriotic education. Because of Shanghai's economic role, it's likely there will always be a sense of Shanghai superiority. But it'll become more like other countries' cities identity than what it was before, and the Chinese government can facilitate that transition by relaxing residency laws.

Energy analyst indicated Japanese government lied on the oil reserve:
"254 days worth of consumption" claimed by government was calculated based on consumption of 1.8MMbbl per day, but recent 10 years average daily consumption is around 3MMbbl. Also the statistical methodology is deceptive, it counts operating inventory into "strategy reserve".

The expert indicated the real reserve should be as low as 103 days worth of consumption, which is less than half what government is telling the public.

Certainly, the message "254 days' worth of supplies" will give people a sense of security.

However, this "254-day reserve" actually includes operational inventory that cannot be considered a reserve.

The public should also be made aware of "inconvenient truths" such as the fact that if Japan's daily oil consumption is assumed to be 3 million barrels per day, this would reduce the supply to 180/300 x 254 = 152 days' worth, and that if "private reserves" are recognized as "operating inventory" rather than reserves, the supply would only last 180/300 x (254 - 76) = 103 days' worth.

Not surprising at all, not surprising at all.

Japan is a society that likes to cultivate a superficial consensus of stability, and everyone have to upholds (but doesn't truly believe in) this consensus.

Remember how Japan set out that research ship to dig up rare earth rich dirt from bottom of ocean at 6000m depth? That ship has abandoned it's missions due to... check notes...
Running out of fuel.
I am having so much fun watching the death of Japan in real time. Their economy and society is dying and they don't have the state capacity or will to do anything about it (except being racist to China)
