It's more like "Do logical things, and not stupid things"
Marcos Jr. is an example of doing stupid things.
Why antagonize China? It would not help the country at all, even with the territorial disputes. Why was his predecessor able to negotiate around these disputes? (discounting the possibility of being an American agent, which would be beyond the scope of this)
Trump administration's approach to EVs is also stupid. Why are you so set in pushing a fossil fuel economy? Diversity of energy sources is not a bad thing. Reduction of pollution is not a bad thing.

China should actually do nothing in regards to the current situation. Obviously they are not desperate enough since they still use boats and planes to patrol SCS. Leave them hanging until things are actually dire, and you’ll be able to extract more concessions.
