i think this guy's analysis on grand strategy is pretty good. the big missing piece though is how the economy side does but considering how coordinated the movements are on the military side, the financial side is most likely just as competent.

just because we don't understand what's going on doesn't mean nothing's going on. it's naive and dangerous to think we have all the information.
Yeah, I don't find this convincing at all. If the Americans are doing this grand plan to confront China, then why have their main military actions this year been aimed at Yemen, Iran, and now Venezuvela? Sure, you're going to have think tanks come up with fancy ideas, but these are rarely acted upon, and are often unworkable to begin with. Hell, most political leaders barely even pay any attention to them.

In this particular example, I doubt that the US has some sort of strategy for blockading China. It may have been an effective move 15 years ago, but the time has long passed for that kind of thing. More importantly, while there are certain players in the US who are interested in a war against China, the key part of this strategy requires that China be seen as the aggressor. A blockade is already an act of war, so it just fit.

i think its convincing because they've followed rand's russia-ukraine playbook to the letter already.
argentina cancelled its chinese projects for 40 billion. venezuela is an absolute no brainer for choking off oil supply. nigeria has chinese projects as well. we just saw deals made with central asian states (kazakhstan is huge), leashes put on malaysia and who was it indonesia? aipac delegation sent to taiwan amidst increasing aggression from the eu to push taiwan recognition.

and you want to tell me this isn't a methodical encirclement taking place?
the operative word here is 'methodical.'
i cannot stress enough that the focus here is that there is every sign that america is still very much operating under intelligent control, that all the apparent idiocy of trump&co are distractions if not outright deception. watch what america does, not what america says.

According to Kevin Walmsley, China no longer has any need to export the rare earth materials to outside, as they themselves have high usage for these materials, as local demand in last two decades (due to high tech industary) alone outstrips the supply, so there is no need to export these materials to the rest of the world.
I already written here that current resource production not sufficient beyond few years anyway and OPEC kind alliance was presented to Saudis. this new approach of integrating tech into Soft Power.

So what's your solution? Or are you just venting about the "methodical and we'll thought out" planning of American ruling class?

Well yeah. It's all political theater to distract the masses. When blackrock or whatever big corporate make important decisions behind closed door, no one blinks an eye. But when a country or government does it, it's supposed to be all shocking or something? Do people really think these higher ups have are obligated to be transparent when we already have a national security clause?

The thing is whether or not China had planned for this accordingly by observing their action and strategic implications. That's what actually matters. You can execute whatever gameplay you want, but if your opponent prevent a lot of it from happening properly or has a direct counter to shut it out then you're in trouble.

It would be a grave mistake to underestimate America's determination to undermine China. For years, the United States has systematically attempted to destabilize China through its actions concerning Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea. It has engaged in malicious infiltration of China's internet, religious, cultural, and ideological spheres. It has worked to sever China's ties with its neighbors and trading partners. Globally, it has amplified narratives portraying China as a threat and as an evil force. These actions are plain for all to see.

so all im saying is, we should stop acting like the us has actually gone full retard because i think there's evidence that doesn't fit the theory.

for context let me just remind you again where this particular conversation started from:
Well I don't think any of us really feel the way you portray.

The US has always been a circus on display but deep down, has deep geopolitical plans. They still control the world media and can influence elections, but not completely

Still it's hard not to laugh at their self goals

Eg.

Litinsky, also one of MP's largest shareholders, added he did not believe many of the company's peers could be competitive. "The vast majority of projects being promoted today simply will not work at virtually any price," Litinsky said.
