It would be especially underhanded and pathetic to pick on small countries that simply don't agree with it, but potentially successful if China actually depended on these countries for anything. Unlike the US, however, Chinese power comes from within. American power comes from subjugating others. So at this point, America's just taking out its failure-induced rage on little countries cheering on China thinking that China relies on others like the US does.

As far as strategy goes, the only strategy in bullying Venezuela is soothing Trump's base. He has become deeply unpopular because recently China has handed him his ass at every single aspect of the trade war and even his own farmers are enraged that they have all their soybeans rotting in collapsing storage tanks and then he gives Argentina $40B and imports their beef. It's to the point that even the usual Trump defenders are absent in social media posts when talking about these things. But when they talk about Venezuela, their bullying little eyes light up again because there, they can once again feel like the old USA that pushes little helpless guys around. He needs to look like a winner somewhere and it's nowhere with Russia or China so Venezuela's his last option.

It would have been the same a long time ago because China never relied on Iran or Venezuela for anything. Now, it's impossible for the US to take on China and Russia and it was always going to be this way. China is a country of 1.4B STEM majors and the US is a country of 330M lawyers and finance majors. Why would the US be able to stop China from overtaking?

LOL Only for Anglo countries that depend on the Western reputation to shield them from being correctly understood as garbage. The truth is, for the majority of the world, China is far far preferable over the US, even countries that don't realize it due to American media control. When China comes, they get hospitals, roads, airports. When the US comes, they get war, robbery and death.

Then to make this all real and complete, it is the platforms. You own a cell phone right? Like everybody. Those platforms get their cut, if we do anything on them.

So it is like the finance people get their cut from credit cards or mortgage payments. Maybe with a car or home pays for the insurance. Then do anything on the phone, you are paying the telecom company for the connection and then the platform for any transactions.

Then we kind of accept the fact that all these entities are in cohoos with one another. And when things go bad, they get bailed out by the government. They get bailed out collectively, while they foreclose on someone's house! Ah ha! No.....

In classical feudalism, it was the relationship of serf to their Lord that defined their life. In techno-feudalism or neo-feudalism, it is the average person and their must have relations with these corporate entities, who always get their cut, like the feudal lord before.

The thing about feudalism, life did not really improve for the serf over the centuries. The thing about today, no one expects the young to have a better life than the boomers, which is kind of in line with techo-neo-feudalism.

That was why feudalism was chucked out.

How neo-feudalism has entrenched itself in the United States, seems to me one side has a decisive upper hand in the class struggle.

It was more sinister than that. All commoners lived on rent - the feudal system made ownership impossible except for the aristocracy. You worked the land, owned by somebody else, for life; the owner kept the produce and profits, and gave you some income with which you pay the owner for living on his lands. Blood-sucking oppression!

That was in Europe (and colonies) and Indian subcontinent. Mughal emperor Aurangzeb abolished this feudalism in 1700s, punishable by death, and saw his empire reach it's zenith. He is the guy hated the most by Hindus today (you can see why). British came and restarted it in full swing, and it is openly prevalent today (not even hidden, but the original open form).

It is more complicated than that. It is hard to get users to move to different software. There are substancial barriers in doing so.

What about porting your work over and learning the new interface? Possibly getting clients and suppliers to also move? Not so easy.

Software is also important. As the Tao of Programming puts it: "without the wind the grass does not move".

It is very hard to get users and all their clients to move to new software, which is why you need Americans to force everyone to do so all at onve lol

You cant seriously be comparing difficulity in learning a new software interface with building RE refining at scale?

i would claim the opposite relationship. the period that modern democracy sprang from was an era where the emergence of industrial technologies increasingly eroded the monopoly of force held by the aristocracy. industrialization resulted in the democratization of force, because weapons became ever cheaper to produce and easier to use, forcing the aristocracy to first parley with merchants, and ultimately with the peasants. the advent of the mass-produced automatic infantry rifle in the mid-20th century marks the height of this democratization, where even a peasant child in the ricepaddy could strike down the helicopter or strike aircraft.
it was the emergence of high technology that has reversed the balance of power. those who control high technology have disproportionately more lethality than those who don't. feudalism re-asserts itself because it can.

Turkey is now Russia second largest trade partner and Erdogan government is part of Arabic economic system even though Turkey deep state is attached to Europe.
Syria was Russia mistake of not realizing soon the extent of Arabic Soft Power behind Erdogan intervention. when that Syrian leader was visiting Russia recently Russian team was doing more than 60 meetings with Kuwaitis. this is that visible compensation.
