Nasty. Just wondering but was there no criminal action to this? The only thing mentioned in this article is the civil lawsuit.

My guess is that they are “minors”. Shanghainese love to imitate foreigners so much that they go easy on hooligans just like Western lawmakers.

Ban is likely for china gimped versions and lower tier chips with local alternatives. (smuggled advance chips still allowed )
Nobody's building massive datacenters on smuggled boards. Its about the ecosystem and developer base at this point and China's obviously intent on cutting off Nvidia while going to Huawei and Cambricon.

If American werent so delluded about their own relevancy, they might even realize TSMC is technically subject to China's export control, enforcement of which would be the first move during start of unification.
