What MAGA rabbit hole this turns out to be. That’s what happens. People who hate so much end up eventually eating their own. It’s like Highlander… in the end there can only be one.

Suspect is a guy from a conservative family but refused to vote in the last election, blames both parties for messing up the country. Accuses Kirk of spreading hate, although it seems to be referring to the generic Christian conservative talking points. MAGA will probably react by drawing battle lines that say whoever is not for us is against us. I'm seeing a lot of social media comments from conservatives saying that they are done with talking. We will probably see an even more illiberal and aggressive MAGA from now on. What now, new Civil war or a new Patriot Act?

It is interesting as someone noted that Tyler Robinson supposedly dumped his rifle out in the woods where text messages to his friend told him to go get it for him. The thing is the video showing him sliding off the building as he was escaping he's carrying no rifle. If you saw the video said to be of him going to campus before the Kirk event, he is seen limping where it was said it was because he was hiding the rifle in his pants leg. How did authorities find his rifle out in the woods when wasn't carrying it when escaping the scene and he has no limp?

Combined US-PH pressure on China in the SCS continues. Not sure what China will do on the SCS that can firmly put Philippines in its place and also show US as completely powerless in the SCS.

Clearly Water Cannon is not working.

I think the water cannons and ramming are working well, except for the DDG self ramming event of course.

But in all in all, it's a relatively non lethal way to push back the Phillipines, increase costs on them to fix their ships. Who cares what the US says about standing with Phillipines, that's just lip service and doesn't mean shit.

They have to say that to shore up the image of supporting the Philippines, but when push comes to shove, the US will either have to back up their rhetoric and suffer losses (unlikely) or back away from their rhetoric.

China should keep up the pressure, continue to water cannon and ram them. What's the Philippines gonna do? Shoot first? Or continue to complain and get lip service. Who cares if they complain. And if they shot first .... Then ... Lol. Bring on the fireworks.

It's a non-issue, Philippines is on defence and China has unlimited escalation freedom even without using lethal force, e.g. disabling engines with a drone then tow them away, or use non-lethal or acoustics against the aground boat. (i.e. melt them with microwaves)

The question is objectives, China's main game is against the US and of course continue its own technological singularity, Philippines is a side show that just need to be contained. Once the main game is done, Philippines will either go away on it's own, or China can play any one of the infinite number of cards.

It's the same as Hong Kong 2019, when it ended with NSL in 2020, it was solved in its entirety and it didn't even matter at that point.

Also if it does come to a military conflict with the US and Philippines donates land for US forces, Philippines land just became free real estate.
