Obviously, she wouldn't be a viceroy if she didn't, but there's a big difference between Europe being forced to do something and Europe wanting to do something, because US isn't the only one who can force Europe to do/not do something and it's always easier to force someone to do something they already want to do.

With Orange running the country like a tinpot dictatorship they don’t even have rule based order as an excuse — it’s racial superiority plain and simple.

I believe the issue runs deeper than it appears. When I talk to my European and American colleagues, many of them hold strong anti-China views (sometimes borderline racist..). These are highly educated people. Some of the things they say are outright absurd. For example, one of my American colleagues recently claimed that China was trying to smuggle viruses into the U.S. (referring to the researcher case).

In my opinion, for Europeans, it’s more about privilege. They truly seem to believe that if the U.S. loses its global dominance, Europeans will no longer enjoy the same level of control and privilege they have today. Of course, this is just my personal observation/opinion, but I truly think that deep down, many Americans and Europeans want their dominance over the world to last forever and Europeans believe that America has to be the sole superpower for this objective.
One can be highly educated yet still ignorant, racist, and brainwashed. These people are part of the world's greatest problems and will never be a real part of the solutions.

either way, they should start diversifying away from the US. Maybe finishing their products in other countries to distribute the risk of taffis across Asia.
Vietnam is the "other country", China and Vietnam just signed an agreement to deepen supply chain integration in April specifically to deal with American pressure on Vietnam.

The thing about tariff is it's relative, if there are no alternative to China or China through Vietnam it doesn't matter to the seller how much US increase their own sales tax or cooperate tax. Trump found this the hard way with 145% tariff.

He obviously moved on to bullying smaller targets after getting a bloody nose during the last round.

For America, Vietnam will firmly promise to remove all Chinese components from Made in Vietnam.

Let's take TVs as an example. Vietnamese TVs will only contain Vietnamese and Indian components. Not a single screw will be Chinese.

America's TV supply chain will be fully China-free until the USA starts a war against China. Then Vietnam will suddenly discover that the entire TV actually comes from China!

It looks like Vietnam made a horrible mistake and misread Trump's command. Trump wrote, "All parts must not be Chinese." But somehow it was translated into, "All parts must be Chinese."

Vietnam got confused and decided to buy all its electronics exports from China and just charge 20% extra. Vietnam is truly sorry for being a middleman, doing no work, and making a ton of money. Next time, Vietnam promises to get it right and remove all Chinese components. Vietnam swears by the honor of the Republic of Vietnam and Vietnam's capital Saigon.

Welp US consumers will get upset stomach from mounting their TVs…

I call it the white-european empire. US is just an European offshoot. Europe will never abandon their dominant position and accept China as a superpower.

Nah, it's still racism, just not the KKK type of burning cross kind. China or Chinese people or Chinese products can outperform on any objective metric of performance and yet Europeans will still somehow think they are superior and dismiss out of hand the Chinese option if they can even process the concept in the first place. It wouldn't be the first time where I've suggested that perhaps the solution might be to actually be friendly with China or choose their products, and been met with a blank stare of incomprehension then gradually a dawning look of horror as it finally sank in that I was suggesting an unthinkable.

The thing about Vietnam is if they drink the Trump Kool-Aid, will China cut them-off or do they still want to play Kumbaya? Vietnam doesn’t have shipping fleets to get all the resources to make things for the US. They get all of it from China. Trump would have to TACO and allow Vietnam to buy from China. Americans aren’t going to pay for it like the many myths they think gives them the power. I remember reading that Vietnam makes double digit billions on Chinese tourism alone. Vietnamese are typical Asians where they hate Chinese but they still want Chinese money. Good luck with Amtrak, Vietnam.
