Hypothetically speaking: the assassination of Xi Jinping — even if unintended and a result of an attempt on Vladimir Putin's life — will devastate the world or at least certain geographies like Ukraine in the same way the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria devastated Europe over a century ago.
Zelensky and Ukraine would be wise to avoid such a destabilizing scenario.
This little nugget of news about a possible "decapitation" strike against XJP and Putin has me a bit worried-even saw this little news tidbit on my local TV CTV news stream .With the infiltration of Ukr/NATO/CIA forces/assets in Russia(i.e Russian generals /political figures being assassinated)and the desperate straits of Trump buffoonery in trade war/diplomatic chaos,these vicious westoid losers just might think killing XJP might work to undo China's winning stance.Far fetched?-I very much hope so ... but these assholes losing /declining now wants to bomb 3 Gorges Dam,have privateers attack Chinese ships,the increase by NSA/TAOS group cyber attacks/etc-got me thinking about a plausible deniable attack by rogue Ukrainian elements etc.
Assuming Zelensky is a rational actor (and that's somewhat of an if), he's going to say no to any strike or attack that may harm Xi.
Not only would harming Xi be a death sentence for Zelensky, but it'll also make Zelensky an almost perfect "peace offering" for Trump to pony up to Beijing as an offramp for the tariff war.
This is not a scenario a rational Zelensky would want to confront.
However, someone like Kyrylo Budanov or Valerii Zaluzhnyi might see assassinating Xi or Putin (which may lead to Xi dying in the process) as a way to "kill two birds with one stone" under the assumption that it'll not only give them an opportunity to succeed a deposed Zelensky, but also earn them enough favor and support from the China Hawks surrounding Trump to stay in power.
Not to say such a scenario is likely to play out, but certain actors, with access to nation state resources, may "see an angle here."

You are all way overthinking this. The Ukraines, hell even the collective west, does not have the deep strike weapons capable of penetrating the multiple levels of security that will be thrown around the event. Not without jumping in themselves and effectively doing a reverse Pearl Harbour scale attack involving almost all of their best assets in any case. And that’s WWIII if they do.
Ukrainian successful attacks deep into Russia have all involved using small, slow and cheap civilian drones to slip through lightly guarded areas; or using agents to launch small drones from closely. Neither of which has much chance punching through multiple layers of overlapping point defences on maximum alert readiness.
And given the numerous such penetrations in the past, I’m sure Chinese Presidential security will also be going above and beyond to do their own due diligence, and will put in place additional layers, systems and measures as they see fit to make sure Xi is protected to their satisfaction.
There is a vast gulf between what some idiots might want to do, and what they can do, and no amount of wishful thinking will change that.

Just tells you how the US and Trump realize the weak position the US is really in against China. You have real officials of the Trump Administration being careful with their words while the unofficial ones are saying what the Repanicans are really feeling and want. Look at those port fees Trump wanted on any ship made by China. That's just laughable that they didn't think about it because Trump's tariffs shows how that would be a disaster for the US too if it were implemented because the same effect on shipping would happen. You better believe there are some Trumptards who separating those two things. It's like how you can tell if someone is insane because they think if they do the same over and over again, they expect a different result every time.
