"Finally, Miran said that countries could “simply write checks” to the Treasury Department."

They buy US debt,
that the US use to pay for their trillion dollar military spending and for the weapons the Netanyahu use to blow Palestinian children in to pieces.
What more they want?
He is literally after extorting money. I am telling it, unless the US Congress steps in, or China blinks for some reason, normal relations with the USA are over for most countries. This behavior will have a lot of political consequences.

Thousands of US fighter jets are sitting back home. They dont have enough carriers to put thousands of planes on them. This is their limitation.

My question is Can China mass produced blimps or balloons then equip variety of missiles (ASAT, Antiship, A2A) on them? You can also install a radar or tracking device on them

"I don't think there is anything wrong with China spending more like 2.5% or 3% of GDP as a potential superpower. "

If you include the R&D and wages into the budget, maybe they do add up to 2.5%?
Well if you by official Chinese budget numbers of 245 billion in 2024, that's actually 1.2%. SIPRI estimates China's actual budget to be 300 billion. With that number its actually 1.5%. So, no I don't think China is spending beyond 300 billion estimate coming from SIPRI.

To be fair I think China doesn't have that budget because:

1. Civilian/dual use projects give better long term return on investment

2. China is limited by staffing issues. If we go up to 3%, it would mean buying a lot of current gen platforms, else we get too many soldiers with no platforms to use, like Polish and German broom gun trainees. But China doesn't want 1500 J-20s or 10 CV-17 when we can wait awhile for 10 Jiangnan max size CVN and 100s of 6th gens.

The true limit on China's military is the amount of next gen warfare certified combatants that can be trained, not money which is functionally infinite since 1.5% of the by far largest economy is way more than anyone else. In this light, the current J-20 and CV fleet (for example) exist to train up a new andre of competent staff that can later staff a 3-5% spending military that will have generational advantages anywhere on the globe. Their ability to defend China is just a bonus.
You fight wars with what you have, not what you can get 10 years from now. Countries like US or Japan count China's current strength, not what they can have 10 years from now and then make decisions. If China is holding out cause they want better tech, what if they have a military crisis this year? Then they risk losing that war because of lack of numbers.

I don't buy the personnel limitation at all. If China had a higher budget for the last 10 years for example, they could have easily trained more pilots, sailors to operate their bigger fleet of fighters and ships.

Another thing people forget, US has a huge pull of former fighter jet pilots and sailors they can call up in a longer term war. They have 4th gen fighter jets like F-16 and F-15 that have been retired from active service. They have thousands of these fighters available to be reactivated. What does China have in reserve? J-6 and J-7. That's a huge difference in reserve strength,

I agreed with the 2 points you've made.

China has a bigger population than US. They can try to recruit more for the airforce or navy.

The vast sea is a big protection for China if you think about it. It doesn't allow U.S to get to China that quick.

How China plays out in the next 5 years is very important. No war or play soft is better imo. You don't want a war during your golden development stage.

By 2035, China's confidence will increase to 3x from now in event that there is no war or major conflicts in the next 10 years. They can literally do whatever they want by then.

Elon Musk blasts Peter Navarro: ‘Dumber than a sack of bricks’

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is sharply escalating his attacks on top Trump trade advisor Peter Navarro as he defends his car company and chafes against the administration’s tariff plans.

“Tesla has the most American-made cars. Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks,” Musk, Trump’s top campaign donor, wrote on X, the social media platform he owns.

“Navarro is truly a moron. What he says here is demonstrably false,” Musk wrote in another post.

Musk was responding to Navarro’s contention in a CNBC interview on Monday that Musk is not a car manufacturer but a car “assembler” whose vehicles are made of many parts sourced from overseas.

Days earlier, Musk in a since-deleted X post said Navarro “ain’t built s---.” In a separate post, Musk questioned Navarro’s credentials, writing, “A PhD in Econ from Harvard is a bad thing, not a good thing.”

Musk currently works for Trump as head of the White House DOGE initiative. As Trump commits to his staunchly protectionist agenda, Musk has recently signaled his support for free-trade policies.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt shrugged off questions about Musk’s attacks on his colleague.

“Whatever,” Leavitt told CNBC’s Eamon Javers. “We are the most transparent administration in history expressing our disagreements in public.”

Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks,”
“Navarro is truly a moron. What he says here is demonstrably false,”

And meanwhile, the White House responded with this.

‘Boys will be boys’: White House downplays Musk-Navarro feud

Truly an circus.

The whole Ukraine capturing Chinese soldiers thing is very likely just be a psyop on the EU. Without China the EU is basically guaranteed to cave without fail. So what’s better then to psyop China into the Russo-Ukraine war, pushing the EU Russian fear into overdrive and forcing the EU to sanction China and thus guaranteeing the cave.
