This attitude is easily explained when we know that Bill Maher said on one of his shows, "the reason we don't study the history of other countries outside the West, is because there really isn't much there at all to begin with." Like fool, if it wasn't for China's invention of paper and Arab chroniclers during the Golden Age of Islam preserving the history of Rome and Greece onto paper, compared to parchment and papyrus which was bulky and decayed much faster, Westerners wouldn't even know their own frickin history.
Lots of Westerners have this attitude that they have this divine right to being the sole torch carriers of civilization, eventhough the time where they were was only roughly for 500 years. Even during the time of Rome and Greece, the vast of majority of Westerners today claiming those civilizations were living as barbarians.
Least of all Maher, which is an Irish name. Nevermind China, during the time of Rome and Greece, his ancestors hadn't even mastered straw huts, they were living in caves!
