Had DeepSeek relied on stolen data from OpenAI, OpenAl would have had 30 versions of DeepSeek by now. It would be poetic justice if OpenAI starts to look for a mole of Chinese ethnicity in its team.

If he cares so much about the truth and uncensored views, why doesn’t he ask ChatGPT if there is a genocide in Gaza and post the total cop out bullshit that returns?
As though OpenAI doesn't have built-in tools for censorship, such as "ethical safeguards".

You might have heard about India hosting Kumbh Mela which is some Hindu religious festival they haven't done in ages. And for whatever reason it attracted controversy.

Well now its def controversial. Another stampede. 15-50 dead and 200+ injured.

Yeah Im sure this is going to make India an AI supapowah and come up with their own Deepseek soon. Jai Hind!
no, every 12 years-the Kumbh Mela is a giant hindu festival at the confluence of the Ganges-imagine 100 million hindus pooping/preeing/drinking/bathing in said river-always a shitshow in deaths.

, Trump's appointee Howard Lutnick said:

“I do not believe DeepSeek was done all above board. That’s nonsense. They stole things, they broke in, they’ve taken our IP and it’s got to end,” Lutnick says of Chinese actors.

The more they cope and seethe the funnier it gets. All the seething and coping won’t bring back the 600 billion dollars of lost valuation.

I was reading someone's thread on X where he was doing a deep dive into why DeekSeek R1 went viral and I think he had a good point. Besides the technical merits of the model he noticed (and I concur) that there is significant amount of schadenfreude in seeing OpenAI get what's coming. If you just do a search on DeepSeek on youtube you can see all the videos taking that schadenfreude tone talking about how it dropped a bomb on the sharemarket and is smashing the AI bro oligarch. The guy's theory is there is nascent class conscious emerging in the US which understand the big tech oligarchs are in alignment with the government (demonstrated all the more clearly during Trump's inauguration and Stargate) intent on creating a techno-feudal society straight out of Cyberpunk 2077. DeepSeek due to its open source nature just happens to fit the Robin Hood image well, hence why ordinary people identify with it much more than the big AIs. The fact that this narrative slots right in with the "oligarch intend to replace us with H1B Indians" and XHS refugees thinking China is a socialist worker utopia are also extra bonus.

Thus he points out any argument based on DeepSeek "stealing" from OpenAI in distilling their model won't catch on with the common man and will be ridiculed instead, since stealing from the rich and giving it to the poor is precisely what Robin Hood is meant to do.
