You have naked oligarchy with Musk's appointment. Just appointed a billionaire campaign donor to some advisory role with the nebulous goal of making the government more efficient.
You then have the Supreme Court saying the President cannot be held criminally accountable for their actions. I mean, that basically just gives someone the incentive to be nakedly corrupt because you literally cannot hold them accountable to the law. Now I know some people will argue about checks and balances, the separation of powers between the executive, judiciary and legislative bodies on top of the constitution, but I don't see those being roadblocks to sufficiently motivated and supported individuals in the future.
I am also seeing a lot of people on the left wringing their hands over the Biden pardon of Hunter, and I just don't get it. He did this because he likely believes the Trump DOJ was going to punish his son unjustly. Does Hunter deserve to be to held accountable for his actions; absolutely. Can you reasonably expect the accountability to proportionate to his crimes in the Trump DOJ world; fuck no. I would do the same thing for my son if the incoming administration looked to be a bunch of crooks, loyalists and maniacs.
