If in reality the GDP per capita in China is even higher, then it shouldn't surprise anyone that China is much more technologically advanced

Anyway I agree that both Iran and Turkey are countries with a very good scientific and industrial base, and they do very good, specially Iran, for their size and situation

Belarus has inherited a lot from the soviet union and let its inheritance rot since then. Sure there's something left, but they don't develop new things. Iran can launch satellites independently and has a nuclear program. They also produce acceptable cars and quite a lot of medical products that they can't import and at least produce some things that can fly without western inputs.

All I'm saying is that when you compare muslim countries that have proper institutions and government that cares about development, you end up with a similar kind of technological level of development as in catholic, orthodox or buddhist countries. Communist Vietnam is not exactly a technological leader either. Ideology doesn't matter that much, muslims can be as productive as any other civilisation. The problem is that many muslim countries are led by not very competent people and that the US and Israel are not allowing the region to become peaceful

The housing and rents in Turkey are cheaper than China. so even though salaries will be lower but it does not mean standard of living is lower. The luxury villas i dont think you can find in Asia for this price unless exposed to alot of heat and humidity.

This patently false, China had some teething issues due to having to repair from ww2 + other conflicts up until the 1980s, but it had essentially developed at the same level as the Soviet Union.

And as for gdp, you can't take the per capita of a small state and then compare it to a huge region and think that is a statement on how developed they are. There is some 400 million or so people in China at around 30 000 $/per capita mark? Which is more than Turkey or Iran ever sustained or dreamed off.

Turkey's gdp per capita also compares favourably with Europe, but you cannot say Turkey was ever more developed or powerful than Europe. Because some core territories in Europe (which together have more population than all of Turkey) have been for the longest time had far higher gdp per capita.

Simply not the same league.

I think it's a product of Turkey doing very strange things with their currency. Even so, you still need to somehow calculate for the fact that Turkey and China don't use the same currencies, you cant just rip out numbers without adjusting first, else you're not performing analysis on reality.

Turkey is the outlier here because they clearly don't have that high living standard vis a vis either Europe or China.

I get what he is saying though. Like you obviously know India is an enemy but instead of being direct, you just say hes a "unfriendly" guy and therefore assume most of the time he's not going to act nice. You still do business with him but since you know he's not a nice guy, you have all those protection measures against him. All without saying it openly.

That really relies a lot on EQ as well as wit though. I personally could never bring myself to deal with a guy like that and not want to tell him to F himself. But apparently Chinese can. They are very direct but at the same time hard to read if you don't think hard.

Funny enough neither can India. Despite claiming they are so good at outwitting or playing mindgames, when their leaders met with Chinese ones, the Chinese one said let's talk business and leave the border issue for later. The Indian ones were furious saying how can you still talk about doing business normally after what just happened! Guess Indian heads don't have as much cool as you think huh?

This is contrast to guys like Vietnam who have tons of beef with China. Yet they can still talk business so easily with them the next day. Now that's probably something to fear huh?
