Interestingly, this is not the first time Biden has mentioned tired Peter-Zeihan-level-stupid cliches about China. He did it in the SoU address and various other times for the last year and he seemed to me genuinely to believe them because he says it with such confidence. I'm really beginning to wonder whether the American political system has become so dysfunctional and delusional that it started to believe its own propaganda. I really wonder whether POTUS is getting proper intelligence about China.

Arrogance of Empire, declaring victory prematurely simply because of one year of bad data for the Chinese economy. There's still ways to go, especially since for all the issues China has it is still the second largest economy, the biggest industrial base, has the largest number of STEM grads, grads who just recently helped the country break the chip blockade when even optimistic experts pegged 2030 as the earliest China could make decent headway on semiconductors.

In essence, Biden might be compelled to say that shit since election season is around the corner. But China's not bound by such short term frivolities, so the only mantra it has to abide by is the war's its not over, until its over.

Plus, might I remind everyone Chinese games made a big showing at Gamescom this year and most of the games exhibited pegged their release dates for next year. Sure it could go either way.

But in the end be patient, if China could build its own space station, jet engines, and semiconductors when previously these were all thought to be impossible, cultural exports might just be the next thing it cracks.

it's just what happens when straight tracks are allowed to identify as not-straight.
