All about money. Before S. Korea there is Taiwan. Those Taiwanese factory owner is notorious for it rude,cruelty, blood sucking behaviour. Yet when ask those banana in Vietnam now you have answers like: Chinese in mainland are bad but Chinese in Taiwan are good. Or after few decades of using "goodwill" money from Japan suddenly all atrocities of those Imperialism Jap is forgive. Now Jap is some kind of angelic, peaceful people whose don't even harm a tiny ant. Lol
It's Vietnam. I talked multiple time about Vietnam's psyche and they will be doing everything to undermine China if they can. Basically, they are taught to think that all Vietnamese problems is because of China and the only way to solve is to become western dogs.
The Vietnamese need to be taught a lesson that every adult learns eventually. Unfuck yourself or you'll get fucked by someone else.
The failure to learn this lesson results in... well, neocons.

I don't think they necessary want to be a western dog, i think they want to carve out their own "identity" since they are always overshadow by east asians like China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan etc. Some seem to have a "jai hind" attitude though, sup power before sup power ...
The south vietnam align ones are a bit different though and the anti-commie thing is passed on from generations (same as hong kongers, fleeing communist )
I think you confuse boba libs with the actual Vietnamese government, which is very practical.
Because they think that it's China that impose communism to them and by getting rid of communism, they will be the next Japan and South Korea. They always thought that they are more cultured and better than Japan and South Korea. They are trying to impose a myth on Vietnamese youth that in the past Vietnam was on way richer than Japan and Korea despite based on data, not really the case.
