It's true that the strongest units would be facing the north, but being an all professional volunteer force, the training for the southern and northern troops would have been similar, the northern troops would just have had access to the most cutting edge equipment in larger numbers. So it didn't make too much of a difference.
I am actually surprised this country has not sort out. have you seen such protocol with each guest travel like city blocks for one hand shake. Afghanistan is not part of it. It is not that they are ignoring it but they consider it some thing much closer.

This article is again trying to label Russian cooperation with Chinese firms as a negative thing. To these Western journalists. Russian reliance on the West = Good and inevitable. But Russian reliance on China = Become junior partner to China. This is veiled racism and double standards.
Last year, when Western auto-firms pulled out of Russia, their Russian partners and factories were left in limbo. The Russian local auto market suffered for awhile. Then the Chinese firms stepped in. But the article tries to imply, that Russian automakers are doing more assembly than last time, hence more reliance on China. Its BS, these Russian-Chinese collaborations are barely a year old. Off course the Russian side will be importing more parts from China. Besides, what is wrong for Russian automakers to be reliant on Chinese industry? Wasn't the same was happening between Russian and Western companies for decades until just last year? So Russia is actually grateful that the Chinese came to save the Russian auto industry. Those factories need to have something to produce. Those workers get to return to those factories.
China is a big factor why the Western sanctions on Russia failed. The world no longer revolves around the West anymore. Now there are alternatives to the West. Western sanctions are not a death sentence to your economy anymore. This massively infuriates the Western elites. One of their most powerful card is no longer that powerful.
