If you didn't know India has actually has a low fertily rate for its development level. So eventhough per capita wise its roughly the same or even some years behind Nigeria per capita gdp wise depending on the exchange rate its already technically an older country.

India will grow into the world's 3rd largest economy and that standing will allow it to act as a great power just based on its size alone. But India becoming a fully developed nation with a high standard of living outside of Delhi and Mumbai is kind of out of the question imo.

I'll acknowledge that achievement when Indian achieves it. But I'll never congratulate India.

India had been invited by Joe Biden to send it's astronauts to the ISS. The US and India are planning to JV something to make that happen in next year. Whatever that might look like. So India is joining the US-led space club. As sweet as that sounds. That'll weaken the Indian space program in the long term. Because India will become a junior partner in this space club. Like the Europeans and the Japanese. India will become more reliant and subservient to the US to stay in this space club. India will not wanna lose that ISS ticket, NASA collaboration, and goodwill from the American boss.

China is not only the top of Asia. China IS Asia. All other countries is just satelites of the the middle kingdom. Korea and Japan is cheap copy of the Ming and the Tang dynasty. India for most of history was never a country. China is the only country in Asia that can rival and surpass the west, although some countries like Vietnam or Japan will not like the day when their western masters being surpassed by China.

China had an even lower fertility rate for its development level in 1990. Of course, this wasn't natural, it was because of the one child policy, but I wouldn't write India off because of that.

Instead, I'd write India off because they have seriously failed on creating a strong business environment, competent industrial policy, and quality education system. To be fair, they're improving. But the question is, is it fast enough.

Saudi itself want to increase there population to 50+ million. do they have more wealth but there standard of living is also higher. i would think population further north will make space for more people.
Some thing started in desert is not going dominate as desert until this point not suitable for population growth or industry. Arabs lost control of it once people from north in much greater numbers entered it and they have no mechanism to throw out people.
just watch this clip this global renaissance mean Arabization of Islam. if we succeed people will follow us.

What improving? If anything, it's all actually regressing since the start of the Modi-era.

What Modi did:

1) Business environment:
Worse oligarchy in Indian history. Dominated by Ambani, Adani, and Tata.

Even worse gangster business policies than the pre-Modi era. MNCs are leaving India faster than ever.

2) Industrial policy:
Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat. All failures. Indian industry have not become more competitive since Modi took office.

3) Education:
Holy cow exam, and no more periodic tables and evolution in school textbooks. Education is becoming more anti-science and religious-oriented.

Whatever great achievements of India today is actually riding on the last remaining momentum from decades of Congress rule. As crap as Congress were at governing, they were much more serious at running India than Modi and BJP. It'll take some time before the Modi generation of Indians becomes the new Indian adult population. Then, we will really see the true damage that Modi and BJP had done.
