: "...according to projections widely used by engineers and project managers, the train could not be completed in this century,"

Yes, just like naval capabilities, it takes decades, even centuries perhaps to develop California high speed rail in the US.

This Hanjian "western loving savant" who's residing in Australia is having a freaking meltdown to find out that exercising the so-called "freedom of assembly/protest" is actually not a thing, especially when the thing you're trying to protest is against something/entity that's considered sacrosanct. Most importantly, if YOU'RE CHINESE and you're protesting AGAINST WESTERN INTEREST(S) and not AGAINST YOUR OWN KIND, COUNTRY, CULTURE, POLITICAL SYSTEM ETC...that will land you in BIG DOO DOO A.K.A. COMMIE CHINESE.

During the Tianamen Square protests authoritarian China granted student leaders a meeting where they can negotiate and mentioned their grievances in person to Premier Li Peng. Is Democratic America going to grant student leaders attendance with President Biden?

A fundamental contradiction of liberal democracy is how liberties enjoyed today are often the result of illegal actions against the status quo in the past. The facade is that the civil disobedience of yesterday are justified but further disobedience in the present are not.

If Chairman Mao was here, he probably say this is class struggle.

The baby boom generation, they were the ones who protested everything.

Now this generation do not want other generations or people to protest.

This is class struggle if we ever saw it.

Mao was right. Endless class struggle.
