Based solely on the video evidence, it looks like the brothers initiated physical contact, retrieved a weapon while the other party was already leaving the premises, and then approached the other party and swung a deadly weapon. Attempted murder is going a bit far, but to me it looks more like assault with a deadly weapon than self defense.

Self defense laws vary state by state. For example, some states have stand your ground and castle doctrine laws while others don't. Some states emphasize the level of threat while others are more or loose. Contrary to popular belief, the US is very diverse culturally and morally. Each state's set of values along with their counties is different from each other.
Trying to make an objective assessment does not make me a race traitor. It's ridiculous that the other party didn't get charged for their role in the altercation, but what that brother did was at minimum assault with deadly weapon. Going after someone with a sword is not self defense.
