Iranian state media says IRGC seized vessel near Strait of Hormuz

Iranian state media says the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps seized a cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz. The report quotes sources saying the vessel was from the Zodiac Maritime shipping company owned by Israeli tycoon Eyal Ofer. It was sailing under the Portuguese flag.

FT on US allegations of China supporting Russia's MIC:

No, first of all the Russo-Ukrainian war is an European War and has nothing to do with China.

Second China is selling civilians goods in a free market at a fair market price. Whatever the Russians do with those civilians goods is not China's problems.

Third is very hypocritical the concern about Sino-Russian civilian trade while they sell war weapons to Taiwan. if the US really care about their Ukrainians puppets winning maybe they should consider exchanging Taiwan.

Eyal Ofer. This is atleast his second ship intercepted. The first one, carrying the Liberian flag, is the one that Yemenis raided in that helicopter back in Nov/2023.

I see one of two (or both) things happening:
  1. US wants to shift the blame for their failure in Ukraine. Accepting defeat or accepting a mistake is akin to setting a precedent for the world to witness that our (American) interventions aren't ideal and that our strategy isn't invincible. They try to mimick the early Mongols who strove hard to display the image of invincibility; except, the Mongols avoided conflicts which they clearly viewed as untenable versus the Americans who display their losses as victories.
  2. US wants to malign China by associating it with Russia, who is already been maligned, for ulterior but obvious motives unrelated to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
#1 was very visible in Afghanistan, a war that NATO lost a decade ago but would not admit it. Instead, they would blame Pakistan for harboring Taliban and not securing the border, a border which they couldn't secure themselves with a trillion dollar budget and state of the art equipment.

Again wrong. if US lost in Afghanistan than UAE and Qatar wont be sitting there and it trained generation of people that can fit into Arabic economic system. which is much more sophisticated.
