Some random thoughts on Sunday morning:
The world is strange. A few weeks ago, there was quite some China-bashing in MSM and there were noises around China. Then all of a sudden, this Gaza thing happened. In an interesting twist, Biden finds out he needs Xi more than ever. Now I expect, as long as Gaza is under fire, that US-China relationship will find some footings. As a recent saying in Chinese media, people in China found out that (1) they are not living in a peaceful world, rather (2) they are just living in a peaceful country.
There are more usual suspects in MSM openly saying the Ukraine war is essentially over. So naturally I will predict Allensky ending would not be pretty. People around world will gradually forget this war and life goes on. It is just that tens of millions of innocent Ukrainians that would have permanently lost their family or livelihood. Why are people collectively so dumb? As educated as that many Ukrainians? Never under-estimate brain-washing power I guess?
Europe (EU+UK) is becoming the biggest loser, hands down, period. Ukraine war inflicts some serious physical harms on them. Gaza inflicts some steep spiritual harms on them. And in a few weeks, China-EU summit will be held in Beijing. I really want to see their faces in the photo ops with the Chinese leaders. Xinjiang genocide?
Arab summit just finished quietly. The fact that it actually happened under the current circumstances is already a miracle. We are witnessing yet another interesting drama in this twisted world: Sunni and Shea leaders have a meeting together not shooting at each other.
Last but not the least. Global South is becoming a real thing. BRICS+ is becoming more real going forward. India counted itself out as presumptive leader of the Global South thanks to its stance in Gaza. China is becoming the indisputable leader of the Global South. In hind sight, BRI was a genius initiative. Total investment of $1.3T is totally worth it. China has the money to round it out at $2T before the end of this decade. To all Chinese living in the mainland today, it is their blessings that generations of their leaders have taken them thus far. From this point on, only Chinese can stop themselves.
