I’m not lol. Others are surprised or maybe upset it’s number 1 because it’s foreign owned. I’m saying it’s number 1 precisely because it has foreign appeal. The top 3 fast food chain restaurants in China are all American. Burger King had no first mover advantage compared to several popular domestic chains, and it’s still ranked ahead, lol.
Sure, some domestic brands may eventually overtake them, but that’s in the future.

If you ever read the history of KFC in China you would know this too. Yes, initially they had a lot of appeal as something new and western, but that was over 40 years ago. What really set them apart was their ability to build out a local supply chain, standardize menus, employee training, etc. etc. Given that they were going into business into a former classical communist economy, they had a massive leg up on locals. Local competition was simply not equipped with the knowlege and experience in running a nation-wide fast food business.
While the local competition was learning and growing in those past decades, KFC in China has not stood still. Obviously they have made many adaptations to the menu, but also in a business sense they have localized the business to the extent that Yum China is a separate publicly traded company listed on NYSE and Hang Seng. Yum China is also investing in developing local chains such as the Little Lamb Hot Pot.
TL;DR KFC is a leader not because of "It's foreign", it is because they have a very strong management team who are actually local.
They provided cheap, convinient and okayish quality food, due to having resources local chains don't have.
A KFC or McDonalds in China still has to use the local farms, which means the quality isn't as bad as it might be in some American or Mexican KFC. And it will be more affordable than a lot of local restaurants that don't have the same mass contracts.
As long as they pay their taxes and follow regulations, they don't present a problem at all, so I don't see why @Petrolicious88 thinks this is some sort of gotcha.

Tritium is 1 component of the wastewater. There's also cesium, strontium, iodine, lead, etc. Why not mention those? Why not mention total radioactivity? Why only tritium? Hydrogen and it's isotopes are minimally soluble in water and can be removed by boiling, what's the solubility of cesium and iodide? Hint: ridiculously high.
