Nah, his source was Xavier. He was touring the submarine.

Say what you want about Xavier but he is exponentially more credible than something that’s pretty much FLG media minus the brain harvesting.

That said I assume Sutton still has buddies in the navy right? Something like a nuclear sub imploding is not exactly easy to hide since it is noisy as f**k. If the USN had no trouble determining something as small as the Titan sub collapsing they should have no trouble detecting a serious accident with a PLAN nuclear sub. And they are keeping this a secret because???

The Economist are basically the Failsons of the Anglo ruling class who couldn't make it in Banking/Finance (the levers of power in the mercantilist anglosphere) and since they're also too cowardly to affix their names to the articles in The Economist, their screed is really no different to the spasms of lunatics off 4chan.
Can you imagine a boris johnson bollinger type who wrote crap like that and then expecting Chinese regulatory authorities not to give him the Soros and Hyman Capital treatment?
It's the Economist. So the opposite of what it says is more likely to be true. See example below.

LMFAO. Have Taiwanese Americans evolved non-slanted eyes?
It's sad that the DPP government is actively incite anti-Asian hatred in the US.

China can't print its own money? Jeez
That Balding guy, in his excitement, forgot that Chinese debts are denominated in RMB/yuan.

The article were written by some female Chinese diaspora reporters, so it can be safely ignored. However, it's a good time to review some of the reports about China's economy by the Western MSM in the past 30 years. Notice that after 30 years repeating the same things, there is nothing really new in today's report anymore.

BTW, former investment banker David P. Goldman monitors 150 parameters of China's market, and he doesn't see "a whiff of crisis or contagion".

Today, the U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced that 33 parties will be removed from the Unverified List, 27 of which are based in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) with others located in Indonesia, Pakistan, Singapore, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. The removals went on public display this morning and become effective upon publication in the Federal Register tomorrow.
I see you play card Raimondo but you're going to have to do better than that, that said:

This move would probably greatly upset Rubio and other hawks.

The recent propaganda about whether Raimondo should help bail out China's economy makes a lot more sense now. They're laying the groundwork so that weakening of sanctions looks like mercy from a position of strength, rather than diplomatic concessions.

This final rule removes 33 persons from the UVL after BIS was able to verify their bona
fides. This rule removes the following 27 persons under the destination of China: “Beijing
PowerMac Company;” “Beijing SWT Science;” “Beijing Zhonghehangxun Technology;”
“Chongqing Xinyuhang Technology Co., Ltd.;” “Dandong Center for Food Control;” “DK
Laser Company Ltd.;” “Guangdong Guanghua Sci-Tech Co.;” “Guangzhou GRG Metrology &
Test (Beijing) Co., Ltd.;” “Gucheng Xian Fengxin Titanium Alloy;” “Hunan University;”
“Jialin Precision Optics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.;” “Jinan Bodor CNC Machine Co., Ltd.;” “Lishui
Zhengyang Electric Power Construction;” “Luoyang Weimi Optics;” “Nanchang University;”
“Nanjing Gova Technology Co. Ltd.;” “Qingdao Sci-Tech Innovation Quality Testing Co.
Ltd.;” “Shuang Xiang (Fujian) Electronics;” “Sino Superconductor Technology;” “Suzhou
Chaowei Jingna Optoelectric Co.;” “Suzhou Sen-Chuan Machinery Technology Co., Ltd.;”
“Tianjin Optical Valley Technology Co., Ltd.;” “TRI Microsystems;” “Wuxi Hengling
Technology Co., Ltd.;” “Yunnan FS Optics Co., Ltd.;” “Yunnan Tianhe Optoelectronic Co.,
Ltd.;” and “Zhuzhou CRRC Special Equipment Technology Co.” This rule also removes “PT
Smart Cakrawala Aviation” under the destination of Indonesia, “Seven Star Company” and
“T.M.A. International” under the destination of Pakistan, “Smart Cakrawala Aviation” under
the destination of Singapore, “Odak Kimya” under the destination of Turkey, and “Recaz Star
General Trading LLC” under the destination of the United Arab Emirates.

Looks like a carefully calibrated list of small fish. Nothing that could make headlines or have a real impact. My guess it's a purely symbolic gesture of good will to ensure that Raimondo gets to meet some of the real decision makers in Beijing, where bigger fish will be negotiated.

Couldn’t they volunteer to remain on the list?
