Correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t the last Pelosi exercise and the most recent fly by only at 24 nautical mile? This seems like a strange concession to greenlight the PLAAF to move even closer.

It seems this is a new announcement. Isn't the 12 NM line the universal recognized border for nations with a coast line?

Iran has had the capability to make a gun-type bomb for at least a decade at this point. That they haven't done it means they view the nuclear program more as a bargaining chip with the west then as an actual source of weapons. And that worked quite well until trump threw a massive wrench in things.
More importantly, the reason they haven't built a bomb is because if they do, Israel will first-strike them. Full stop. They have 200 warheads and all of them are aimed at targets in Iran , with the first priority being facilities for their nuclear program. If Iran tests a weapon its nuclear program is going to be immediately destroyed. Hence their not doing it.
Israel doesn't have the capability to destroy Iranian nuclear facilities.

It has nuclear weapons and IRBMs.
If they had the capability to destroy Iranian nuclear facilities, they would have done it already like they did in Syria and Iraq. They wouldn't have spent two decades begging Americans to do their dirty work for them. Usage of nuclear weapons is unrealistic.

Iranians haven't built a bomb because they don't want to, not because they feel threatened by Israel.

Iran does not need to test a weapon. Just like Israel did not need to test one.

Just like Israel tested their nuclear weapon via South Africa (read about the Vela incident), Iran can just use the bomb design tested by the North Koreans.

It is just that Iran is prohibited by their own law to have nuclear weapons.

Israel did not need to conduct many tests because they were taught how to make the bombs by the French.
Iran is not capable of conducting the kind of precision manufacturing necessary to build implosion-type weapons, and it's unlikely NK is either. That's why Iran has been so reliant on giant and vulnerable uranium enrichment facilities. This also severely constrains their potential warhead production capacity since producing appreciable amounts of U235 is very time consuming and enormously expensive.

My main point here is that even if Iran were able to produce and deliver a couple of low yield pure fission warheads, their entire country would be thoroughly destroyed. So they're never going to do it. And that's assuming they can hide the completion of these weapons from Israel which is very unlikely.

North Korea has already proven their capability. In fact North Korean max yield as measured by both SAR detected cavern size and seismometer shows a far higher yield than Indian weapons.
