met his counterpart Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.

“The US has expressed concern about the Iranian president’s visit to Syria and its results … Of course, the anger of the evil regime, whose horns have been broken in Syria and the entire region by Iran and the axis of resistance … is natural,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani tweeted on 4 May.

“Be angry and die angry,” Kanaani added, repeating a quote by former Iranian Judiciary Chief Mohammad Beheshti, who was killed in 1981 during a terror attack by the US-backed Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) organization.

US State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said on 3 May that deepening ties between Iran and Syria “should be of great concern to the world.”

According to the US official, Tehran, and Damascus “have continued to partake in malign destabilizing activities, not just in their immediate countries, but also in the region.”

He then reiterated that the White House has “made it clear” to their allies in West Asia that it does not support normalization with Damascus.

On Wednesday morning, the Iranian president arrived in Damascus for a two-day visit, the first trip by an Iranian head of state to the Syrian capital since 2010.

Raisi is leading a large economic and political delegation, including the ministers of foreign affairs, defense, oil, roads and urban development, telecommunications, and several private sector businessmen.

The two sides on Wednesday signed 14 long-term

, including on trade, oil and energy, railroad and air transportation, free trade zones, earthquake safety, and others.

“Syria and Iran did not gamble at all, and did not put the fate of their countries and peoples in the hands of foreigners,” Assad said during a joint news conference with Raisi, stressing that the two allied nations “bet on the victory of truth in the end, and won the bet.”
“Syria’s government and people have gone through great difficulties, and today we can say that you have … overcome all these problems and achieved victory despite the threats and sanctions imposed against you,” Raisi told his Syrian counterpart.

Raisi’s landmark visit to Damascus is part of an ongoing regional push – led by

An American nonprofit organization, the Environmental Working Group (EWG), have found contaminated freshwater fish in almost every state of the United States by a recent study, the country's media CBS reported on Monday.

These fish were contaminated by per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS), a human-made toxic chemicals that last long in the environment and have been called "forever chemicals," which are linked to cancer and other illnesses, according to CBS.

PFAS can be used in a variety of products, including clothing, furniture, food packaging, heat-resistant non-stick cooking surfaces and insulation of electrical wire, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC).

The chemicals can move through soils and contaminate drinking water sources and do not break down in the environment. They can be built up in rivers and lakes and in many types of animals.

High levels of PFAS may lead to multiple health issues, including kidney and testicular cancer, higher cholesterol, and high blood pressure or pre-eclampsia in pregnant women, according to the health agency.

Before this, a team of American researchers have analyzed over 500 samples of fish across the U.S. from 2013 to 2015, and found out that the median level of PFAS in fish samples was 9,500 nanograms per kilogram, according to a study published in the journal Environmental Research.

"Nearly every single (fish) sample had PFAS in it, and at levels that consuming a single serving of fish would be equivalent to a year of contaminated water," said CBS, citing EWG's senior scientist David Andrews, who led the research.

The CBS said that the country's federal government is proposing "strict regulations" limiting PFAS in drinking water, suggesting 90 percent lower than previous recommendations, adding that the states have made their own rules for the time being.

Well the good thing is they finally found a way to filter out and neutralize these chemicals.

Top US Spy Warns That China Would Seek to Exploit a Debt Default

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines warned that China and Russia would probably seek to exploit a US government default on its debt.

It is “almost a certainty” that both countries would use such an event for propaganda purposes through “information operations,” using it as evidence that the US political system is dysfunctional, Haines told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday.

The mismatch between demand and supply is the big problem we’re handling today,” Faury said. Airplane parts such as seats “are missing, equipment is missing, people are missing, semiconductors are missing, raw materials are missing.” Global logistics are also still a problem, he said, adding that the industry will have had “5 or 6 years of crisis in terms of production capacity” following the Covid-19 health crisis.

Safran is struggling to access materials including steel, aluminum, titanium and even resins, according to CEO Olivier Andries.

“We fight every day, every day, every day” to obtain raw materials and help suppliers do the same, Andries said. Shortages are impacting forge and foundry activities for all of Safran’s products and the situation on semiconductor supplies also remains “tense,” he said.
Both CEOs flagged an added difficulty as their vendors struggle to hire employees that can help ramp up production. Attracting new and diverse talent will be at the forefront of CEOs’ minds at the air show due to take place in Le Bourget, close to Paris, in June, Faury said.

“There are 3 million pieces in an airplane and if only one is missing the airplane can’t take off,” Faury said. “This is the big challenge ahead of us and this is why we are trying the best we can to support our suppliers.”

What would be a realistic scenario if US defaults? How would it affect people in other countries?
Would certainly drink a beer ! It's more the US citizens that will pay...

IF it downgrades US Credit Rating, it could cost the government and ordinary consumers billions of dollars by jacking up interest rates the U.S. must pay on its debt and a host of rates consumers pay for items such as mortgages, car loans and credit cards.

Other countries could get the downfall too...US debt annulation maybe. In the worst scenario, like we have seen in history, some country unable to pay debt have gone to war in the past to bypass their obligations.
