How would that work? If they let go of their existing currency, and restricts the new currency to their borders where are they going to buy everything they consume from and pay with what? They are a net importer.

Looks like MBS brought the war to Riyadh instead. He picked too many fights he couldn't win and is now admitting defeat on all of them. This deal is the result of Saudi Arabia accepting that its foreign policy has been a complete disaster. MBS is no smart statesman like Lee Kuan Yew. He is much more like Saddam, jumping from one foreign adventure to the next and managing to waste vast fortunes of oil. I don't believe he's changed. Give it a few years and he'll get into the next war. Qatar should be very careful
You're missing the point of why it's being done. Three reasons.
1.
They're subversive agents of Washington, to lesser extent other western entities, that are loyal to their benefactors. The open conflict is intended.
In present time, under UN rules, you can't threaten someone for no reason or with an arbitrary claim to power or territory as in the past. You have to have a valid reason and the only valid reasons currently are national security or human rights.
LGBT are "useful idiots". They're exposing themselves so that Washington has a reason to intervene - cut off funds, deny access to investment opportunities, sanction members of government etc. They are also justification to domestic audience why money is being sent to an independent country to subvert the existing government. The government is "bad" because it violates LGBT rights.
This is also why transgenderism is being promoted in recent years. That's a preparation for further shifting of narratives about what is a justifiable excuse. In short transgenderism sets the tone for "whatever I think I am that I am and if you disagree with me you oppress me". It's the perfect subversive agent provocateur.

LGBT/Feminism/DIE is an "international" for the Democrats. It's the same as the evangelical sects or anti-abortion movements for the Republicans.
Not only the "new left" movements are inspired by CIA (see work that Herbert Marcuse or Theodor Adorno and other Frankfurt School philosophers did for CIA) as counter to "old left" i.e. socialist organized labour but they now serve as a radical element spreading US influence worldwide at low cost in the interest of US corporations - the real power in America.
They very effectively prevent formation of organized labour movements which is beneficial to US economic interest and also provide volunteers or low-cost activists to push for specific issues in exchange for funds for their own causes. US corporations fund LGBT "rights" campaigns and in turn LGBT helps to organize political movements that are directly against local laws that adversely affect US corporate interest or are controlled opposition taking lead in promoting laws in a form that is less damaging than it otherwise would be.
American power structure is a capitalist power structure. It can't use organized religion because religion will restrain capitalism. It can't use labour movements because it will restrain capitalism even more. It can't use nationalist movements too much because it easily will transform into fascism which relies on state control of economy. So the only solution is: free market movements promoting capitalism directly, new left movemets promoting pseudosocialism that doesn't threaten capitalism and disorganized fractured religious sectarianism like American "non-denominational" Protestantism.

LGBT movement is a predatory sect masking as a political/social reform movement. It is characterized more strongly by psychopathy and narcissism as well as sadomasochism and other predatory sexual practices than homosexuality understood as a biological phenomenon. Most homosexuals do not associate themselves with LGBT movement even if they identify as "LGBT" due to ideological propaganda in mainstream. In general regular homosexuality has very little in common with everything that LGBT stands for. The movement was invented in California in 1980s among homosexuals who fled states where homosexuality was illegal (and was only legalized by SCOTUS ruling in 2003). LGBT movement did not exist in Europe where homosexuality was legalized much earlier. Also in the US almost 50% of self-identifying as LGBT are "bisexual" which is a code word for "hypersexual narcissist/psychopath". The origins of LGBT movement are very closely correlated with the mainstreaming of BDSM culture. It's not an accident.
LGBT campaigns serve therefore to attract and prey on vulnerable young people who think that the movement is genuine. Old rich homosexuals or "bisexuals" use LGBT to find sexual partners - especially younger. The scale of abuse as well as grooming in the "movement" is stunning. Possibly higher than in traditional religious organization but definitely no lower than that. That's the reason between funding for "shelters for LGBT youth". The only places where LGBT activists can safely prey on vulnerable youth without danger of being resisted by heterosexual individuals using the shelter.
It's a new type of a sex cult with para-religious ideology informing it like for example often it happened with "occult" movements - see Crowley. In the past there were religious movements that mirror modern LGBT movement - priesthood of Inanna with 'transgender" eunuch priests (galla) comes to mind but there were many others.
The important part is that LGBT is not about homosexuals or integration of homosexuals into normal society. If it was it would not be so overtly combative as the result of such attitude is increased hostility of radical anti-LGBT elements in society. This of course causes biggest problems for non-LGBT homosexuals who are the most vulnerable group lacking organized support. By inspiring conflict thanks to external support LGBT therefore has a "win-win" scenario. Either they get what they want politically or they force non-LGBT homosexuals to join their predatory group to gain protection.
It is about forcing ingroup/outgroup dynamics through artificial conflict. Us or them. Choose and choose wisely because who's not with us is against us. And the harassment of non-LGBT homosexuals who express their stance by LGBT is widespread. Same with feminist movements etc.
It's very much like traditional religious movements fighting against abortion, contraception or euthanasia so that the population of vulnerable people who need them is greater. This is also why right-wing anti-LGBT organizations have so many homosexuals. They find shelter and if they get their way guess who gets put in charge of "conversion therapy camps".
Politics is organized societal predation (as opposed to crime bein unorganized societal predation). No exceptions. Don't look for meaning in rhetoric. Only look for what it distracts from and what it directs your attention to. Ideology and rhetoric are tools of control. No exceptions.
