I think it's important to recognise that Iran do not have full control over its Shia proxy forces(but alot more than usual since Iran is their only backer), some of them may escalate tensions for the sole purpose of reigniting hostilities.

What's important for the peace to hold is that the Saudis recognise this fact and do not expect a spotless cessation, but a drop in frequency and effectiveness.

Just to ask, this is something that is either true or bullsh!t because this is trending in western media and even India but I am not sure if this is a massive issue or not. These days, it seems the west loves to come up with all kinds of crap that would help to distract from all those train derailings that seem to keep on happening almost regularly
None of those little threads seem to be moving, even slightly, so tree seeds seem to be a satisfying explanation. Not that rain of animals is impossible as it has been documented in different places, but highly unlikely.

China can just meet with an armed group to oppose America meeting with an armed group. I'm of course speaking of hosting Prigozhin, and inking a juicy deal of weapons and ammo alike. Ought to shut him up regarding shortages, and the weapons will be fired at the allies of NATO or NATO itself and cost real lives for them, a fitting repayment for their own attempts to invade China and in the future take lives there.

Karl Rove wasn't stupid when he said this. His sentiments are repulsive and abhorrent, but they are also true. Real power is the power to create narratives, to determine what is remembered and what is forgotten. All of us here are to a greater or lesser extent outside the Washington consensus, and as such we are reminded of its pervasive reach each and every day.

Academics like to imagine that facts and truths can be uncovered through careful research and reasoning, and that moral condemnation has some import. Karl Rove knows better. Historians can discover and write whatever they like about e.g. the crimes of the American empire. The victims remain dead and their killers fattened on the spoils of their crimes. There is no reason or justice in this world, only power.
At the same time, with few exceptions once an empire loses its status as a super power of sorts, unless the nation is inherently strong (like China), they may never get that power back and will resort to tagging along with the next great power to maintain relevance (like Japan and the UK). Karl’s statement may appear intelligent in a world where the USA has unchecked dominance but in an increasingly mutlipolar world, his statements begin to lose value and in the end, should the USA lose its relevance and ability to project like before, it doesn’t hold value anymore. And all those victims that would normal go unavenged, will suddenly become valid reasons for other nations to take some real pot shots at a nation no longer as capable as it once was.
Power that is well used can create lasting legacys that will be forever remembered with respect while power squandered can end up destroying themselves once they run out of cards and going out as a complete disgrace (like Rome). The USA could’ve been the former if they have good leadership (no matter how evil they are might I add) but is increasingly and definitively looking like the later with people like Blinken and Biden in the drivers seat. Let’s how this turns out

So what do you guys think of this?

My opinion is that I agree with this. Having a decent proficiency in English to pursue higher education is already a necessity for a lot of universities across the world (and/or working in English-speaking countries), so why not for Chinese?

The thing is - You are going to study and/or work in China, not in the UK, US, Australia or Canada. What can you even do in China without being able to understand and utilize Chinese on a daily basis, at the very least?

Besides, Chinese is one of the 6 official langauges of the UN - The status and prestige of the Chinese language needs to be lifted even higher on the international stage than it is at present. Furthermore, with the steadily increasing Chinese soft power across the Global South, its prime time that the Chinese language become one of the lingua francas of the world too.

2008 GFC redux, only this time, you won’t have china bailing out ungrateful Americans like last time.

massive bank run leading to hundreds if not thousands of startups failing to make payroll. You’re looking at the death of Anglo American tech dominance from slow motion contagion from China and the arabs refusing to invest further into US treasuries
