I would think if America wants to completely eliminate dependency on China, they would also want to move this industrial capability out of the region. As moving it to China's neighbor which also mainly uses the South China Sea for trade, then pissing off China would still end up with basically not getting any of the industrial capacity they so needed to be independent of their adversary.
The Anti-China folks wants manufacturing to be pushed to Mexico/South America, but their strategic thinkers are at the same time too paranoid to welcome richer/more powerful 'color' neighbors to the south. Its pretty known that CIA had a hand in those areas during the cold war and even till today.

Low White fertility impacts US as welll....
By 2050, Whites lose majority status to blacks/Hispanics/Asians by 2050. There is already massive racial tensions that will only exacerbate due to Low White fertility and massive immigration and minority growth.

Plus, Overpopulation is not good for China, because limited resources. so a China with 1 Billion population by 2050 is more sustainable long-term growth. Compare that to an India with 1.8 Billion population by 2050 ... Overpopulation will end up in low-income trap.
Sustainability isn't about "physical resources". Sustainability is about the ratio of young working people to old non-working people. This is why you want fertility and longer life spans. So we can have more working people for longer.

China isn't a ravaged African country. It won't have a serious issue feeding even 3 billion people.

UK mulls spy-balloon fleet of its own

The UK government is researching the possibility of creating its own high-altitude surveillance airships, according to the March issue of Desider, a magazine produced by Britain's Ministry of Defence. This comes shortly after the scandal over a Chinese “spy balloon” in US airspace.

The UK defense ministry last year signed a £100 million ($118.6 million) contract to research “stratospheric uncrewed air systems,” according to The Times’ report published Monday. Britain is considering buying a fleet of spy balloons, it added.

Project Aether is a research initiative that aims to “better understand the stratosphere and the high-altitude platforms that could operate there,”Ross Corbett, the project’s military requirements manager told Desider. The research is assigned to the British Defence Equipment and Support’s Future Capabilities Group, London’s “hub for strategic research and innovation.”

The UK is going to spend $120 million dollars to research spy balloons? Was the PTSD that severe despite being thousands of miles away?
