This, ROC president visiting US is big news, if it happens expect PLA reaction on the same level as Pelosi visit if not more.

But besides that, consider the implication behind this news:
1. Someone over in the states came up with the idea that "if we get Tsai to visit us instead send Americans to Taiwan it won't anger China as much"
2. People in charge listened to that idea and thought it was a good idea
3. US did this, because they wanted to avoid angering China

Well they're going to learn a thing or two from PLA then. But this news tells you the quality (or lack thereof) of decision making in US regarding China.

What else is left for the US in its Salami Slicing approach after Nancy Pelosi's visit?

Is the ROC president going there "the peak"? Or is there even more left after that?

I guess technically the civil war is fought between CPC and KMT. As opposed to PRC vs ROC since there was no PRC pre-1949. But then what does that make DPP exactly? Maybe a third party that joins the civil war?

ROC is no longer a single party state so DPP is currently the legitimate government, even though they dun wanna it. Acknowledging ROC is the only thing keeping them alive.

Huh. Seems I should've kept watching when this came up on TV.

Boris Johnson made a lot of people members of the house of lords during his term and even after that. His donors, aides, friends... Some were in their 20s. And remember the membership is lifetime and comes with a lot of privileges. Yes the UK's upper house has its members there for lifetime and not-elected.

Don't forget that 26 of the 778 members of the House of Lords are Bishops of the Church of England and there for that reason alone. The whole edifice is disgusting, really. Paul Keating was right when he described Britain as an "old theme park sliding into the Atlantic."

There's probably more, PLA seems to have many creative ways to salami slice.

When the Pelosi visit happened last year I thought PLA would just have some exercise and it will be pretty ho-hum, but according to Ayi it actually created a huge reaction within ROCMND which was why they were flailing around for two weeks trying to come up with a response with some composure. To this day they still don't believe the big excise was out of the blue decision and that PLA can mobilize that fast and they accuse the Americans on not letting them in on relevant intelligence ahead of time.

So PLA seems to know how to rustle their jimmies and probably have a whole bag of tricks left.

From article:

"Regarding the clock as a gift, please rest assured that the President loves it very much because in our culture the word “clock” pronounced as “zhong” also means “zhong xin” (in English “wholehearted, heartfelt and cordial” or “best wholehearted wishes”). So it is no problem at all!"

Just when you thought they couldn't debase themselves any further!

For those who don't speak Chinese, zhong xin means "loyalty".

You're thinking of 忠心. They mean 衷心.
