MSM receiving the latest trash idea that they're about to put on the front page:
The US has a history of using UFO superstition to stoke public paranoia, possibly to set the stage for political witch hunts:
It's kind of sad to see the US is still playing with the 20th century rules book. Probably why they still try to do genocide propaganda in a world where everyone and their grandma has a phone with a good camera and access to internet giving people all over the world 24/7 live content..

Reading up on dioxin, it's some nasty shit. Toxicity is 130 times that of cyanide. It'll accumulate in plants, water, soil and also spread in the atmosphere.

So the reason they did "controlled burning" was to prevent an imminent explosion in one of the Vinyl Chloride carriages....but even more toxic stuff got released. I don't get this at all.

Other countries that import American agricultural products may want to consider enhanced inspection for this.
More thoughts, I guess controlled burning was the least bad option (in their eyes) if they had to make a snap decision, since they were not able to secure the carriages with the chemicals before hand which would obviously be the best option. Otherwise you'll have mass casualties in an explosion.

In terms of net result though, I wonder if it's the same, or actually worse than an actual explosion. In an actual explosion you'll have casualties and physical damage to property. It'll be all over the news. However, a lot of residents will have left the area already and permanently, so there will be less exposure. Instead now all the residents return to this poisoned region because they've been told it's safe.

I gave the Ohio chem train fiasco some thought and came to the conclusion that it was handled worse than how COVID was handled. With COVID there is reasonable deniability since it is a virus, which is invisible, and many of the infected only suffer from flu like symptoms. Not handling it with proper containment is somewhat understandable. The current crisis is a literal trainwreck that resulted in an explosion sending highly toxic compounds into a major American water supply but somehow national emergency has not been declared after almost two weeks.

How the hell do you not properly respond to THIS after two friggin weeks???!!!

A tactical nuke airburst will probably be less harmful and will probably instantly destroy most of the harmful chemicals. Just so happens a certain superpower seems to have more of those than it knows what to do with.

Philippines files protest over Chinese coastguard’s use of laser against its boat

These acts of aggression by China are disturbing and disappointing as it closely follows the state visit to China of [Philippine] President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr in early January during which he and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to manage maritime differences through diplomacy and dialogue,” foreign affairs spokeswoman Teresita Daza said in a statement.

A chemical engineer on Weibo said that the SOP for vinyl chloride leaks is dry extinguisher on any existing fires, release it, adsorb as much as possible, then let solar UV handle the rest.

This is understandable.

If you dump it, it evaporates. Evacuate the town for a week, and it's all good.

Burning creates stable polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and chlorodioxins from pyrolysis. These are stable and bioaccumulative.

Burning is the absolute worst choice because it turns a rapidly dissipating toxin into a permanent one, then creates a convection blower that distributes the toxic byproducts wherever the wind blows.
