Taiwan has banned all Chinese social media and Alibaba and Bilibili. More importantly, TSMC is no longer a card that can be played due to Taiwan has cooperated with the US sanctions. With a few hundreds billions trade surplus, Taiwan doesn't have leverage. Moreover, WTO has basically been hijacked by the US and become ineffective in resolving any trade disputes. So Good luck.

Wanted to point out two observations I've made from this picture:
  1. Two people currently tend to accompany Xi wherever he goes - Ding Xuexiang, who was Xi's Chief of Staff, and He Lifeng, who is the Minister of the National Developmment Reform Commission (basically State Planning). Both will be confirmed as Vice Premiers this coming March. The past few foreign visits I've seen Wang Yi alongside Ding and He accompanying Xi, and in this picture Wang is sat right behind Xi. As Foreign Minister, Wang didn't have a say in policy making, although he was incredibly effective at his job representing the PRC on the international stage. This picture alongside the past few diplomatic visits signifies that Wang is no longer just the voice of the PRC when it comes to diplomatic affairs. I found it intriguing (and almost puzzling) last July when Wang accompanied Xi to Hong Kong on the 25th anniversary of the Handover, but I suppose all this signifies that Wang has made it into Xi's inner circle. He officially has a seat at the table when it comes to policy making as Xi seeks to leverage the connections Wang has made over the past decade as Foreign Minister (especially in the ASEAN and Central Asia region). I'm starting to get the sense that as Director of the Central Committee Foreign Affairs Office, Wang will be entrusted with a much larger portfolio than his predecessor, Yang Jiechi.
  2. Pictured next to Wang Yi is our favorite former spokeswoman Hua Chunying, who is currently Assistant Minister in the Foreign Ministry. I've never seen her pictured on such a large stage perform before... I might just be reading too much into it, but perhaps a promotion is around the corner as Vice Minister within the Ministry or an Ambassadorship to groom her for further office - a career path replicated by Yang Jiechi, Wang Yi, and Qin Gang (the incoming Foreign Minister succeeding Wang Yi).
TLDR - some nerdy China-watching sh*t for those of you that might be as interested in the inner workings of the Party + PRC

Where's Australia and Lithuania and Ukraine to save their Taiwanese damsel in distress? Is Taiwan trying sell-off all that Australian wine they had to buy to look like they saved Australia from losing China as a customer?

Not the first Muslim country. Turkey made it to the semi-finals before in 2002 I believe
Turkey got alot easy in that cup to reach that stage. even Germany went to final i think.
on other hand North Africa created great players for European teams. Like Current French team manager Zidane is of Algerian decent.
