I remember people arguing with me that CATL should had chosen to built their factory in the US instead of Mexico lol.
It seems that CATL is even more ballsy and hawkish than me and instead just cancelled everything haha

As I said before, and I will repeat it again now, US is an enemy. Inb4 "but da Americans would appreciate jobs created by Chinese companies!"

Bro Xi thinks NOW is the time to decouple especially its Financial Investment abroad with it NO new Investment in the US. I think there is an acknowledgement among the CCP leadership and Chinese intelligentsia of America intention. The blowback is the hardening of Chinese position and we may see a major rearmament happening within the next 3 years.

They are just delaying the announcement of the US factory.

Back in 2018, right before US started first rounds of bans on Huawei, I remember reading AT&T and Tmobile had signed contracts to bring Huawei headsets to US market, but the US gov intervened and forced these companies to back out. Hindsight is 2020... in retrospect now we know why

Seems like China gov is really going for full decoupling now...

Possible. I personally don't see how the Hungary plant would allow it to enter the American market. Unless there was a drastic change internally, I doubt that CATL is willing to leave the North American market to its competitors.

So imo, a factory somewhere in US/Mexico will happen eventually
