Mostly because they believe China is weak and cannot do anything and that same belief will let the Neocons easily rile them up for war. Only an overwhelming military response with tons of advanced weaponry and equipment will make their warmongering behavior hesitant if it means huge losses that will take decades to replace.

This is exactly what I was saying in my previous post. British and French dreams of global powerdom are pipe dreams. They have little to nothing to offer countries outside of Europe and their military capabilities are nowhere enough for their fantasies.

Nope Im not him lol... im in my 30s he is 50s.... also unlike him I never bashed the CPC... when I was younger I was ashamed China was poor and association of Chinese etc but then growing up I realized all the praise about the US was not deserved... that I had in fact been drinking the kool aid growing up, literally and metaphorically

I remember people(including media , not just random troll) were trying to claim that the Chinese just wrote gibberish to up their research papers and patents counts...

Historically, Taiwanese farmers are pro-DDP. As for Taiwanese fishermen, they used to be more pro-KMT as they are different ethnic group than Hokko. However, these fishermen also became more hostile and pro-DDP in recent years.

China, in attempt to court Taiwanese farmers and fishermen, granted market access to Taiwanese farmers and fishermen and at the same time restrict it own farm and fish exports to Taiwan. This strategy failed completely. Instead of winning hearts and minds of Taiwanese farmers and fishermen, these farmers and fishermen gain a sense of entitlement. They demand more market access and ask KMT's help but slowly they vote more and more for DDP. When you only give out carrot without stick, people won't appreciate your generosity but just think you are a fool to take advantages of.
