I think Xi and Putin discussed the endgame of Ukraine war and briefed Russia on the discussions between Yang and Sullivan a few days ago regarding the same topic.
The US is getting desperate but cannot be seen directly approaching Russia about this topic.

Ukraine has stated multiple times China can help end the war. If US doesn't use China to pass a message, who can they use? India?
China is the only power broker possible for some sort of endgame for Ukraine, I'm expecting Macron and Scholz to call Xi about this soon.
If the NK mediation is the precedent example of US duplicity, China should not touch this.
China better concentrate on de-escalating the NK tensions first.

That's for the dumb voters of Florida to consume. When the US was bragging about being energy independent and then change the law so the US could exports its oil, they were looking for China to buy their oil. Oil ain't something the US has a monopoly. Are they going to get mad if China buys oil from nations the West has embargoes on? So what does their little ban do?
