they think that nobody else has memory. they're the only ones with memory. everyone else reacts only to the immediate future.

but that's not true. people do remember. it was just that for the Cold War era when they had 40% of global GDP, people couldn't do anything about it. now they can.
Biden is absolutely delusional if he thinks he can reset the US relations with Saudi Arabia, especially if his only offer is not to make more trouble for them.

Global Times nailed it. The so called US demand for hotlines and guardrails with China is a trap.

Washington now puts a lot of emphasis on the so-called guardrails and crisis management between the two militaries, but not to realize long-term peace and stability. It wants to implement its salami slicing strategy so it won't choke while enjoying the slices
The US has no intention to stop manipulating the Taiwan question or creating divisions in the Asia-Pacific region. Instead, it is becoming increasingly imperious. While taking a confrontational stance that it must subjugate China, the US doesn't want to pay the high cost to defeat its opponent. This could be the genuine intent behind Washington's rhetoric about "guardrails" and "preventing competition from escalating."
As the Hegemon, it contains a vastly more superior toolbox to contain China. By putting "guardrails", the rising superpower will forego "unconventional" methods and thus have to play against the Hegemon on the Hegemon's advantages and terms.

Good bye to any help from China in rebuilding Ukraine, don't worry though, the novo russian area will get plenty of help though.
Meh. People believe too much that China is a charity. Look at Syria, Afghanistan, and now at Ukraine. Do you think China will heavily invest in any of these countries without significant strategic concessions and other demands met?

For Ukraine is even worse, who says that China goes and invest, lets say, $100 billion, and Elensky the day after pulls a Motor Sich 2 on China?

Joke on them, China isn't a fool. It shows the enticing carrot of practically unlimited money to invest and this keeps the other countries in line to "please" China. However, reality isn't so rosy. China will only invest when it believes the time is right and that its investments are safeguarded with strategic concessions and other collateral

In the meantime, China will sooner throw $100 billion to African countries plagued by coups, wars, instability before it touches Ukraine. At least with Africa, China more or less knows what is getting. With Elensky you get a new surprise every day. Today is Motor Sich, tomorrow he provokes the great power next door, next week is disaster, next month the country is gone lol

In any case, Ukraine as a country is done for, so there is no need for China to bother with it. Might as well as go and talk with Putin

China ofc isn't a charity, but stuff like this will make it much harder for Ukraine to say get chinese companies come and help with rebuilding the country as well as just investment in general.

Basically it's closing a door that was open.
