Silly virtue signalling from green washers. I think it makes sense for homes, although I prefer the additional radiance of gas cooking, generally you aren’t getting the same kind of power output at home vs commercial gas stoves. In the commercial setting it makes a big difference because of how much hotter it can get.

Technically you could probably develop more materially complex woks or heating setups (something electric IR ambient heaters around the main stove) to replicate wok hei (since it is basically just heat transfer science in addition to skill), but it’d be expensive and suddenly everyone would need to relearn techniques. If you see this happen in SZ, probably then electric wok hei is economically sound.

In addition lets not forget the dozens of economic cooperations signed in this trip. Give them 1-3 years to start bearing fruit and internal politics/lobbying-groups will push these countries to cooperate even more with China

The West thinks too short-term of weeks or months. China is playing the multi-year game here, and in this aspect, this 10-day trip has been a massive success

China and Papua New Guinea held talks on a free-trade deal on Friday, as Beijing’s foreign minister wrapped up a landmark tour of the Pacific Islands with a stop in the resource-rich nation.
Marape said he wants to shift the economy away from primary materials to more lucrative finished products.
He has invited more Chinese investment and said work was ongoing on a trade deal. “China and Papua New Guinea officials are going through tidying Chinese-PNG free-trade arrangements,” Marape told journalists.
“The specifics of the free-trade arrangement are being finalised as we go through, so that Papua New Guinea interests are not suppressed or harmed, but maintained and in fact augmented,” he said.
